Is it time they stopped making new Pokemon?

I mean really there's like 600 now at Gen V, and it seems they are beginning to run out of ideas. I mean seriously an ice cream? A bag of shit?
I like the direction they are going with B/W2, expanding a game's story that's not just the same game with a few extra bits like Emerald and Platinum was.

I have no problems with spinoffs like Mystery Dungeon, Colosseum, Rumble, and Snap, but what do you think?

Personally I think either 3D remakes of Hoenn and Kanto would be good, or even sequels...

if you look at it from a business point of view, no they shouldn't stop. as long as it keeps making money they will keep coming out. that's how it works. personally i haven't played pokemon game since the very first pokemon Gameboy games. i didn't like it than and i won't like it now. same old shit anyway.

The only one I played and finished was Yellow back in the day it was fun but I never felt the need to come back. Seriously though there is no reason to stop making them as long as people still enjoy and buy them, its not the huge cash franchise it once was but I reckon they make a fair bit out of it so financially it would make less sense if they stopped.

Just ignore it if you dont like it that what I and im sure many many others do with franchises they are no longer interested in.

seriously 600 pokemon? what person has that much free time to collect and level that many... 150-250'ish was enough.

from a player perspective maybe a break away from the series would do the developer some good, try there hand at a new Ip (16 years on one ip would drive me nuts), and it'd probably increase interest in the next pokemon game that did come along.
but as others have said, business wise it makes no sense for them to stop, because it's still making money especially with all the spin off games and related merchandise.

They still seem popular so I'd say keep going for it, the money generated from an established franchise can help to pay for the company to try new ideas.

Hell if I had an easy way to keep making money I'd sure as hell not stop.

You sure are poppin' out these Pokemon threads rather quickly one after another, good sir ^^

If with "new" you mean actually adding more Pokemon to the list, then yes, the time to stop has certainly come. Gen V just screamed lack of creativity and, well, lack of ideas.

That doesn't mean they should stop making Pokemon games altogether though. I'm pouring many hours into Pokemon Conquest as we speak.

I can still think of a few things Nintendo can try with the franchise. A Team Rocket/Plasma/Galactic/Universe game were you play a bad guy or something in that line of thought. Besides, as long as it makes Nintendo moneys, they ain't stopping.

I'm pretty sure I've all already written a long response to a thread like this but I can't be bothered finding it, so here is the short version.

Pokemon is no longer for you. Yes the meta-game is deep and battles can be complex but at it's core they are games designed with children in mind with adult fans just a peripheral demographic. They keep making new games so that young kids who've never played Pokemon will be introduced to it. I see no harm in them continuing the series, since it means more children will get to play a game series that I love.

And don't get me started on the whole "They are running out of ideas for Pokemon" argument. Gen 1 had a ball that evolved into ... a slightly larger ball! How amazingly original and innovative! Every generation has had great and poor Pokemon designs.

Yeah that's what I'm on about. I'm all for new games, but as for adding more and more monsters themselves...

Nintendo might have to resort to using that recently discovered penis head fish as a new Legendary Pokemon: Penilerus (Alternate stiff form). I mean, how many legendaries do we have now? 30? 40?

The day When I see Nintedno stop making Pokemon altogether (no more new Pokemon and a Pokemon [insert colour or thing] game) would be the day when Squire Enix stop making Final Fantasy game altogether too!

I thought it was time they stopped making new Pokémon around Generation IV. I tried to keep an open mind, but Gen V has done nothing to reverse my opinion. I took one look at that list and said "nope".

Gen V is also the only generation where I haven't learned all the new 'mons yet, nor have I really played the games. Diamond and Pearl were pretty good, but I never wanted to give Black or White a try.

Honestly, if they started connecting regions the way they did in Silver/Gold/Crystal, I'd be okay with them making new pokemon. Black and White was a strong attempt to revive the mystery and unknown excitement the first game had, but it didn't do enough.

Seriously, connect...the fucking...regions again. It made the games feel more connected. Seeing what happened to everyone after the first game, the way it changed...made the world feel alive...not like now where it's like a Call of Duty game, different settings and new toys be in reality, it's just the same game with a few new things

What I'm tired of is the same formulaic games for the portable systems.

There's enough Pokemon now, no more need to be made. What Gamefreak should focus on now is binging Pokemon games to the present.
