Is it time they stopped making new Pokemon?

I remember the original 150 and could name them all. I caught all but Mew, I'm not sure if he was actually in Red or Yellow. These later series seem foreign to me, I'm probably in for a shock when I play pokemon black/white version 2.

WTF is a pokemon?!

Seriously though...I was an adult when Pokemon came out and have never even remotely been interested. People keep paying for it, they'll keep churning it out! :D
Pokemon is the new chess . Competitve battling is pretty strategic , plus with all the combinations and strategies it's pretty fun .

OT: we need a new console pokemon . Why don't they make the next pokemon on console instead of a handheld? Wouldn't that work?

hehe yea if you do start up get ready for gen 4
i can honestly say as far as states go ,almost all of those Pokemon are strait up usable, and it introduced a bunch of super strong Pokemon , hell infernape the end evolution to the fire starter in that gen is one of the best Pokemon, period. that whole gen is level 3 x factor dark wesker

but you should give it a try i would advise you if you start up by a few older games ( they come in handy and are cheap now)platinum and/or heart gold & soul silver , and maybe black and white 1, migration helps alot.
Thanks that sounds like good advice but I'm not sure I'll have time to play through one of the older titles before black white 2 releases. I wasn't great at pokemon but I remember doing clever things like teaching my blastoise dig so that when my friends switched to a thunder pokemon I would surprise them with an earth attack. Another example is jolteon learning double kick as it's effective against rock types.

One question though, Red and Blue meant you either got blastoise or charizard, and in my opinion charizard wasn't as good because he couldn't cover his weaknesses like blastoise could. I'm guessing black white 2 has exclusive pokemon depending on the version you get. I know the game isn't out yet but what version are people leaning towards and why?

I easily put in 40+ hours into every game. Add the replays, it amounts to....well a lot. If people are still getting enjoyment out of them then sure, make some more.

It's the same game they've released 10 times. Let them keep making money, people will always buy the games -_-

Edventually they'll have released enough pokemon, the target audience will have forgot the origional 150. Then release the origional 150. And loop. Loop forever.

Doesn't matter if they stop making them or not, I know I'm cutting it off at Gen 5.5. I'm just done, and I plan to make it my last generation.

Now, if I were in charge, I'd stop beating my customer base of the head and neck with them. Give Gamefreak some time to stop, collect themselves as a company, draft ideas for some years while working on new IPs, and then some point when we're hungry for Pokemon again, give us something big. Either this, or the endless repetition will eventually kill interest in the universe.

Nowadays, your starter is decided by which one you choose. However, certain legendaries are cut off in certain versions, I havn't played Pokemon through, so I'm not sure.

Also, I have to say, they'll keep making it.

No man... no. Just... no.
Well maybe... no, never mind.

MOAR! We need more. For Pokemon, the design possibility is an endless bucket of potential. A two-headed moose with cat ears. A car with puppy dog eyes. We have yet to even see the monkey with four butts. Hell, even nature designed a Pokemon and they haven't taken the suggestion yet.

I don't know what you are on about. As far as I am concerned there are only 151 Pokemon. 152 if you count MissingNo.

The OP does not make it clear that you're talking about new Pokemon species. The way you put it, it sounds like you're wondering if they should take a break from making new games.

Anyway...yes, they need to take a break (from making new species) and let us get the most out of the species they've already given us. When Gen 6 comes out, they should just populate the new region with an unusual mix of already-existing Pokemon. Why? Because if they don't slow down, this seriously will get out of hand.

Case in point: there are too many Legendaries. Being a legendary Pokemon used to mean something; it meant that the world would be thrown out of balance if something happened to it, even the little ones like Celebi. But now? I don't even know what this generation's "Mew" equivalent is. Kyurem? Keldeo? Genesect? Who even cares?

We need time to better get to know the species they've introduced, and they need time to make us actually care about the 50+ "Legendary" species they've flooded the series with. Just because Gen II added more Pokemon doesn't mean they have to keep doing it. There are other, better ways to get people excited about a new generation at this point.

We need a Pokemon Noir title. Picture it; its the big city, where every night its raining heavily, drunks (both human and pokemon) litter the streets living rough, drug abuse is rife (snorting dust from leaf pokemon or something), dodgy deals occuring behind closed doors... through all this strides Private Investigator RED with his trusty companion Psyduck, taking any case that comes there way.

Plenty of dark bar scenes, fights on rooftops, confrontations in alleyways, mysterious dames, missing ornaments etc. Essentially an 18+ semi-horror/adventure noir title showing Pokemon after dark.

There are so many Legendary Pokemon now... none of them feel particularly 'legendary' anymore. Jeez. Yeah, okay, Gen III had it's fair share too, but the Regis all sucked and Jirachi/Deoxys weren't normally obtainable. Though, I absolutely despise the 'Event Pokemon' thing they've been doing since the first Gen, too. But how many 'trios' are there in Black/White? It's ridiculous. And one of them is technically four Pokemon because there's another one that you just can't get through normal gameplay! Christ.

Yeah, I'd like to see them stop making MORE AND MORE POKEMON DESIGNS!!!!! and actually do something new with the formula. I'd love to see, for instance, a full-fleshed out world that includes all of the regions and Pokemon already implemented. Hell, for spin-offs how about a real-time action-RPG that lets you control the Pokemon directly during a fight, while still retaining the whole aspect of traveling the world, catching and raising Pokemon while challenging Gyms and stopping the local 'evil yet hilariously incompetent' Team?

Here's what needs to happen:
Someone else needs to buy the rights from Gamefreak, because as long as Gamefreak's in charge nothing is ever going to change. I'm looking at you, Bethesda.
Separate Pokemon designs into 4 categories: keepers, crappers, ones that need a slight visual redesign, and ones that could work but need major attention.
While genwunners (such as myself) might dislike most in newer gens, and newgenners (or allgenners) might claim to love them all, I think we could probably come to terms with 90% of where each Pokemon belongs in those 4 categories.
You look at the roster of what you have left and figure out what fills the type and statistic holes and make new ones to plug the gaps based on feedback from the entire fanbase.

Optional, but for bonus points:
Turn the game into a true RPG with branching story, possible factions, and even a reputation system.
Have base level ups along with 'trainable' stat points to do away with all of the IV and EV training people keep going on about.
Make it possible to play in an open online world with cities with more than 20 buildings.
Make 3 game modes: story, collection, and challenge.
Have the world be more dynamic, with no set zones for certain Pokemon or specific levels. Have focal zones with radii following a normal distribution, altered for potential changes in habitat. This would necessitate the smoke ball being a starting item as it would be possible to hit a level 50 Tyranitar just outside of Pallet Town.

Just a few ideas kicking in my head.
