Well, frankly my dog is a German Sheperd so if he sleeps on my bed then I don't have any room, but otherwise no, I don't see why it's weird.

I'm seeing alot of cat owners saying this stuff is ok when it really isn't in certain cases. With a small house dog it wouldn't matter because your always more dominant by size. With a large dog its absolutely not allowed. If it starts to think its on the same level things can get really difficult, not so much violent just it won't obey you because you really have no authority if it thinks your the same level.

I tend to dislike people who let large dogs sleep with them, just cause there are better ways to spoil and bond with your pet. just to reiterate I don't think its weird or anything, just bad practice.

I have three little dogs, and they are inside dogs who receive baths- with some oatmealy naturey gentle dog shampoo I bought- at the beginning of every month. ALL of them sleep in the bed. Usually down by our feet. Winter nights are great.

Your title makes it seem weird though. lol

It's just fine. I think people claim it's wrong because they think it may mess up the heirachy in the dog's mind.

Not odd at all, my pets have all slept on my bed.

Never had an issue with disobedience at all either, if anyone thinks its bad because of that.

Yeah if my dog is malting I'll be like gtfo. But I let it lie on my bed and kip while I play on my computer or something. I don't let it sleep on my bed while I sleep though, it just doesn't happen..

People care about their pets. Personally I want my bed for myself, but I don't see any harm in letting the dog sleep in the bed. Also, cooking for the dog.... Is that really much different from feeding it the leftovers as I know some (my parents included) do?

EDIT: I type no good

Naw.

Your choice really.

If its in the bed when you're "using" it, then that is pretty weird.

Sleep is fine though.

I don't see anything wrong with cooking animals food or letting them sleep at the end of your bed.

It's actually not a good idea. Later on it could cause separation anxiety and they may not be able to grasp hierarchy that quickly. Similar to eating habits, you can't let them eat first.

It is absolutely not okay that a dog sleeps in his owner's bed! That is sick and twisted!
A cat only -like mine- should be allowed to sleep in the bed of her/his human!
;)

If you are fine with your dog/cat in your bed, it's all okay...I would say.
Yes, there will be hair. Yes, there can be dirt.
But hey, it's nothing a washing machine couldn't handle.
And who am I that I would wake my tomcat while he looks so cute while sleeping ;)
And he has his own little blanket where he always sleeps, so there is not so much cat hair in my bed :)

[Edit]
Just don't forget that your dog is a dog and a cat is a cat and not a human.

I have no cats or dogs, but my pet rat sometimes wants to sleep in my bed, so I let her. A little soft ball of fur is allways nice on those cold nights.

I have had many dogs and cats sleep on my bed. They just want to sleep with me and it's gotten to the point that I have trouble fulling asleep without them.

There is nothing wrong with treating a pet as a human, especially if they think they are. We have a dog, a maltese/shit-zu, who is convinced she is a person. She refuses to eat anything that looks remotely like dog food (we get this special 'gourmet' stuff), she'll only eat the food of a spoon or fork and only goes to sleep if she can get under the covers of your bed with her head on your pillow.

She is a various high maintenance dog, but I still love her :)

Not wrong, no. But I wouldn't do it. Mostly because my dog moults everywhere. Oh, and she'd probably just try and lick me rather than going to sleep.

Did cook for her once. It was her birthday, and I wanted to try making a quiche. So the end result was a doggy birthday cake of sorts.
