You have access to a green screen and mo cap studio?. On a completely unrelated note, you are now my new best friend, how are you my BFF?

I'm awesome enough thanks you! It's nothing fancy we just have a green roller for doing pieces to cameras and scenes. I recently linked a few cameras up for getting mo-cap data and it is surprisingly effective. (when you fork out for the right software) I'm still sorting out the workflow and brushing up on my character animation as I am the only guy who works here interested in 3d. looking forward to getting moving on it. Thanks for the interest!

You shouldn't have gotten a horse in the first place if you didn't have the means of taking propper care of it, idiot.

Also after you shot the horse, what will you do with it? If you sell it to someone you can get money for it, otherwise you're just left with a really heavy, dead horse.

A horse really shouldn't be that hard to sell, someone is always looking for them, I know from experience. Just give it to a stable or something.

Frankly, you can't just kill something because it gets expensive, I'm sure the... I dunno what you call your animal protection place but they'll probably look after it.

Do not ever insult another user, they trolled, they got caught out and were found wanting, leave it at that, bit of friendly advice as opposed to an official warning.

If you have to ask it probably means your aren't going to do it. Otherwise you would have shot the damn thing and got it over with.

*sorry if it sounds harsh but life is life*

EDIT: wouldn't it be more profitable to sell it?

If you kill a horse at all, you are condemned to the fiery pits of Hell for all eternity for murdering a beautiful animal.
What if it was in mind numbing pain, with no hope of recovery and you shot it in the back of the head so it died instantly, and even raised its foals?

OT: I'm almost certain this is a troll thread, and I wonder how the Escapist's bronies are reacting...

Hazama avatar could point to troll status. Otherwise: What the fucking fuck, you sick son of a ***** and then again Texas. Not exactly surprised.

(My apologies to any non-redneck psycho Texans for my gross generalization. Chances are you're a good person and I might even like you.)

He could do both, kill the horse and then eat it, how is that bad in any way? Assuming he's no troll and has a money issue you can't expect him to continue to feed the horse. So killing it solves that problem and eating horse meat(which is delicious) will same him some bucks.

What the title says.
Considering putting down a horse due to the costs of keeping one.
Absolutely. For gods sake, GIVE the horse to someone else, then. Personally, I think anyone that would do something like this needs to have their clock cleaned. HARD.

Firstly- thanks for clearing up the issue of how you got to this point... not really fair for people to keep playing the 'then don't buy one' card when you state you bought it 10 years ago. It's not like you can plan for losing income (at least on some ways.)

Secondly- don't freakin' shoot it! If you can't find a buyer, contact the humane society, you local animal control, and start googling horse rescues. Don't worry if they're local, some of these guys do travel. Does your police department ever have mounted officers? They might like a donated horse. I also like the leasing idea- and have you considered offering riding lessons, or know someone who could if they had a horse to do it with?

If you've really, REALLY exhuasted all your options, call a butcher. At least that way some good comes of its death (as opposed to just shooting it, which does no good for anyone.) That's a total last resort though- and tell all those rescue groups you called earlier that you're planning on butchering it before you get that far... perhaps knowing that you will end the animal's life will spur them to find a home for it.

Lastly- don't forget to get a donation reciept- tax breaks and all.

Only horse meat.
Which is not what I am doing.
Your Google-fu is lacking, my son.
sixth **edit** fifth (I was counting a sponsored ad BS link at first typing) link on a search for texas law on killing a horse:

http://www.animallaw.info/articles/ovustxcruelty.htm
the pertinent part of that article I linked to says said:
For cruelty convictions involving depriving an animal of food or water, abandoning an animal, transporting an animal in a cruel manner, injuring someone else?s animal, and overworking an animal, the defendant will be punished with a Class A misdemeanor, which may include a fine up to $4,000, jail time up to a year, or both. If the conviction is a third offense involving these actions, the state may punish the defendant with a state jail felony. Under Texas law, a state jail felony may include jail time ranging from 180 days to 2 years and a fine up to $10,000.

Some cruel actions warrant harsher punishments even on the first conviction. For cruelty offenses involving the torture, killing, seriously injuring, poisoning, fighting, or tripping of an animal, a state jail felony may be imposed on the first conviction. If a defendant is convicted three times under these harsher penalties, he may be subject to a third degree felony sentence, which translates to imprisonment ranging from 2 to 10 years and a possible fine of up to $10,000.
Killing your horse is a crime. Potentially a felony. You may consider craigslist. I don't know what city you're closest to, but there's bound to be a market for horses somewhere around there.
Umm you do realise that that quote says nothing about puting an animal down right?
Humanly killing is a completely different thing to cruelty leading to death.
Nothing there implies you can't kill the animal, just that you can't do it in a cruel fashion.
That would all depend on the civil court judge's opinion if he does it without telling anyone and he's reported. Putting a healthy animal down could easily be considered a cruelty offense if the wrong judge is on the case.
