Ok. So my friend and i were hanging out in our class. As he got up to put his book away, a girl asked him if she could take hers too (people always ask him to do this cause hes always standing for some reason).

After a long argument and some jokes he ranted about a statement that everyone had to think about.

"If women wanted to be treated as equals, why cant they do things themselves?"

I understand that it was him just trying to be lazy and funny, but when you generalize the question, it makes you think.

So escapists, Is my buddy just sexist or does he have a point?

(P.S female escapists dont kill me >.>)

Erm...possibly a slight point? I'd say it's more as a 'Why don't they' as to 'why can't they'. However, I say this mainly opposing the self-righteous ones and I treat them the way I would any self-righteous hypocritical person.

"Oh, you want me to do something for you? Why? Oh, it's because you think you deserved to be tret like an equal? Well, do it yourself, it's not as if you help me or others."

It's a valid point that equality means not giving people positive special treatment as well as negative.

That said, he was being a dick there. It's just polite to take the book in that situation and put it away for them, whoever it is.

When did women start doing nothing?

Only bitchy hot women make men run for them, and they don't want to be equal.
(they are far above equal, in their little world)

I would agree, if women want to be treated as equals then they should do things themselves

No, the comment isn't sexist.
It is so damn normal that it makes me sick.

However, if he is the type that helps people and then pulls that line..
He isn't a very kind person :/
i admit he is a dick. But it has become expected of him.

He's got a point, but he's probably sexist. I think we all realize that everyone should be treated equally, whether positive or negative. Voicing that opinion to a member of the opposite sex for the sake of amusement probably means he is a sexist. It doesn't need to be said; we already know, we already get it, let's try to make some headway, and keep our smarmy fucking comments to ourselves.

As I understand it, she just asked if he good take her book too seeing he was already standing? That sounds like something anyone could ask, not specifically a girl. So yeah, he was being sexist. He should just have called her lazy and walk off.

I suppose he has a point, but the equality doesn't mean exact replication. Men and Women are equal, but they are far from similar. Men do some things better, women do others better and it all balances out.

He is a sexist, women actually do equal the amount of work and labour as men.
even more often, they deserve to get the same amount of payment, and to be treated just like men.
