Overall, not really; it's just that there are a few BS spots where you need absurdly good ninja skills (looking at you, Chamber 18).

I wouldn't describe a puzzle game as 'hard'. Levels in action games keep a consistent difficulty. In games like Portal, once you understand what you need to do, the game is simple.
By the way, I know that Portal requires reflexes sometimes, but my opinion still stands.

Portal 2 is kinda like the "Advanced chambers" in Portal, meaning it's a bit harder and a bit more restrictive, but it's still easy. Portal is a breeze.

I found Portal 2 to be easier than the original, and that's without even taking the advanced levels in to consideration. I loved Portal 2, but I did find the puzzle element underdone.

Kinda hard in some of the late puzzles but you can get past those eventually, I doubt anyone is stupid enough to not beat the game at all. That's not including disabilities. Shouldn't take more than 4 or 5 hours for your first try.

I've heard some people say the same thing there. It might just be me who is weird, I guess. I wasn't stuck for more than a minute total in the first Portal game, everything just obvious to me. I got stuck a few times in Portal 2 though, I dunno. Maybe I'm just dumb. =(

No because every question you have of "How do I get there?" "Or how do I move that to there?" can be anwsered with "Your holding a portal gun". I brezze through it in an hour or so but I'm really good at puzzles :p

It was probly because of the long walking sections inbetween the puzzle rooms. I brezzed through all of Portal 2 as I found it easier but there where times when I was like "Where am I ment to go?", while I never had that problem in Portal 1

People saying you're stupid for not completing it in under 3 hours are assholes, I bet they took longer than that themselves when they first played it (unless you're timing yourself it's gonna seem faster than it was).

I'd say a realistic time for your first time playing would be 5-6 hours, 2-3 if you're blazing through it.

I see. Well, that wasn't really a problem for me at all. I meant I got stuck on a few puzzles. Hell, I even remember why I got stuck, and when I figured it out, I felt so incredibly stupid.

I found portal relatively easy. there are just a few simple rules to follow, if you're stuck, try to stop for a while, look around the level and think.

My first playthrough took me a couple of hours. Now I can easily run through in less than an hour. Portal 2 was about 6 hours on my first playthrough. It's not hard at all. Some puzzles take longer than others to figure out, but there's no way you won't be able to beat it.

When I played through it took me about 3-4 hours, however my friend took a very long time to beat it. Mostly because he's one of those people who gets antsy if he hasn't killed somebody 20 minutes into the game. If you do not fall in line with the aforementioned group, you should be fine.

It's only hard if you over-think it or make it more complicated than it actually is. The hardest parts are outside the test chambers because you have to play where-waldo for walls you can portal gun and actually work out where you're meant to go.
A problem that unfortunately carried over to portal 2. Also, no, just remember momentum is always conserved, as is direction relative to both portals, and you'll be fine. Friend better be losing his/her bet.

It's easy.

But some people seem to get stuck on the simplest of things for a while then ask for my help. When I give them help it goes like this "Move that ball out of your way." "How?" "How do you think?"

Portal is really nothing that progressive thinking can't beat after a certain period of time. It's not so much hard as it is something that makes you use your brain.

That said, there's gonna be a chamber or two that you'll get frustrated by.

The appeal of the game isn't the difficulty, it's the story (which is the best reason to play the game).
Sorry, what? The best thing about Portal's story was the fact that we knew so little about what was going on, and we didn't know about what GlaDOS' sinister plans were. It was pretty bare bones, but the mystery made it worthwhile.
But don't get me started on Portal 2's story, which appeared to be written by a team of attention deficit monkeys trying to get the biggest laugh on open mic night who have no concept of plot cohesion.

Portal is quite easy and as mentioned above some chambers will take a while to figure out but overall it isn't a hard game. Don't worry if you find yourself taking really long amounts of time on a level since certain things like timed buttons and turrets add tension and stress but overall Portal is not very difficult. Challenging but not difficult. It really just depends if you can think logically about a puzzle in different situations, if you can't you will find it hard but if you can you will very rarely get stuck.
