I am on my first playthrough of resident evil 4 on the wii and is it still a good game compared to games like Left4Dead and Gears Of War 2?

It's definitely better than any of the previous Resident Evils, I know that much.

As for your other two examples: It's better than Gears of War, but I haven't played Left 4 Dead yet so I'm not sure about that.

Yes... ish. I personally think the controls are jittery enough to almost cripple it but theres only so much that on flaw can do.

Good games don't degrade over time like bad or mediocre games. Plus you have to compare it to games made at the same time. I'm not going out and saying Doom is better than Halo.

I have it for the PS2 and it was a pretty good game.
It was my first Resident Evil and I only got into the franchise last month but I've completed it and all the side games.

I played RE4 when it first came to PS2, I replayed it about 2 months ago and loved it as much as I did before. My housemate who owns a 360 also played through it and loved it, it's made him want to get RE5 now, which is good seeing that he'd played the other REs and hated them.

It's a fantastic game. The best RE game ever by far and one of the top (if not the outright best) game on last-gen. I haven't played the Wii one, though I finished the GameCube one several times, so amazing was the experience.

RE4 was awesome. It had brilliant gameplay, some geniunely scary sequences and Leon S Kennedy. For me, fanatical person though I am, having Leon in a game automatically wins it several points.

Heh, you said you got the game yourself, so you should tell us ;-)
Thing is, metacritic says this: RE4 Wii (91) original got a 96, L4D (89), GoW (93).
I say, depends on your tastes. I like RE4 most of the three, because I'm the ideal audience for a survival/horror/action game that's over the top, but not too much so. I got it on release, am still playing it. I give GoW the silver medal, because of the action and visual design, altough it's less cerebal than I like my games to be. It's still awesome. I like Left 4 Dead, but have a personal grudge against it -games that don't get their shader maps right just don't do well with me. Especially when all other Valve games did get it right.
I'm weird, so don't listen to me.

Meh, it's a fun game.

Not particularly scary IMO. At no point did I feel any fear while walking around with enough weaponry to destroy a small army.

Sure there were some shocks, especially the first time Dogs and Regenerators appear, but it never makes you hesitant or scared to enter the next area.

RE4 is better then both those games. Yes it is good, a classic. I prefer the Gamecube version though. Tried the Wii version, but the Gamecube controls just felt beter. Maybe because I used those longer.

I found having Leon to make the game not scary, playing as Chris Redfield made RE scary, but Leon is too strong a character.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing by the way, Leon sweats awesome.

I played through it for the first time ever before christmas and thought it was painfully average in every department!

(That's the Wii edition BTW)
