I'm a massive fan of Guitar Hero, and even Singstar is pretty funny so I really want to buy it, but is it worth £120? I could buy an Xbox with that. What does everyone think?

I thought Rock band was a huge disappiontment. after a day or two i went strait back to guitar hero 3. if you really want a taste of the drums wait for guitar hero 4 where im sure they'll do it much better. save your money. hope that helps

A few of my friends have it, and that pretty much means I don't need it, as I can go over there and play it, with more then one person which is much better. Also, it is extremely fun to play (especially with a few friends) for the first few weeks, but then the enjoyment wears thin, and all the stuff just ends up sitting there taking up space. That's what I've noticed at least. So overall, if you like guitar hero, it might be worth buying, if you don't think that you will get sick of it. But if one or more people you know already have it, it might not be worth the money.

Every other day me and a few friends go around to a friend's just to rock out together. It is awesome, providing you have the right people there to play it with. If you all like to get drunk, listen to Faith No More and know someone who actually can sing (or at least sort of) then get it; especially if you can play it on a frequent basis. If you're solely considering it because 'LOL it has drumz!' then you are insane.

I was thinking about getting it but I don't have much room left in in my front room (oversized T.V and Sofa take up most of it) so i was wondering do the drums take up much space?

I have it. It´s very fun to play with friends and I would recommend it for you, but I think you won´t stand the bad quality of the peripherals...

I would save money for GHIV, though. The drums are a good improvement over Rock Band´s drums.

/Goes back fixing Rock Band Drums and ignoring the useless RMA.

you can kind of fold the drums up a little bit and put them in a corner, but its still a couple of cubic feet, and you gotta put the guitars and stuff somewhere too. takes up a good amount of space.

Rock Band is worth getting assuming you both have disposable income and friends who have nothing better to do. Rock Band is like Guitar Hero with training wheels. I can barely play GH on hard but on Rock Band I be rocking on expert. And on another note, if you have a friend who thinks they can sing really well but in reality they cannot, do not purchase Rock Band. People like that do not need encouragement. They need a muzzle.

Pros to Rock Band: Great social game. Instrument charts for guitar and bass are not too challenging but are well constructed and fun. Loads of DLC available. Very good production values in the software and superior (IMO) styling and presentation. Character customization.

Cons: A lot of people get faulty equipment. (My guitar had to be RMA'd due to its OD activation not working, but everything has been fine since). Expensive.

It helps if you have siblings that are into the game as well.

I love the game and have sunk plenty of money in the DLC. It's mainly a game that needs 4 people to really shine, and if you're in need of a party game and you have the opportunity to use it on a regular basis, you really can't beat the experience. It's not going to make you friends but if you've got the friend base to support it (i.e. 4 people who already hang out all the time and all enjoy music and faux-Rocking) then it is a must buy.

If you've got a couple of friends who you play with quite often I'd say defintely. It's absolutely ace. But don't shell out if your mates aren't really keen, obviously.

If you can say Yes to all 3 of these, get it.

I have space in my house/apartment.
I have 3 friends who also want to play this.
I have money.

It's a great game, And I for one don't think that it gets boring at all which is why I like it so much. It costs a bit of money but it is well worth it in my opinion. Of course now with Guitar Hero 4 coming out you may want to save your money, but then again no one knows how GH4 will be. Everyone says that it will be a lot better, and I think it will be an improvement also, but no one can know for sure until it comes out. But I can guarantee right now that Rock Band is good.

£120? does that include the game? £130 is around the cheapest I have seen it for and that's with discounts.
Personally I'm waiting a bit to see how Guitar Hero World Tour does. I think they'll make the better peripherals for one, and I also don't like how EA have dealt with the world outside America. A 6 month wait, and then only a limited release at a ridiculous price.

Guitar hero DS >_>

Get ready to wiggle. [http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/52885]

All sarcasm aside though, I heard it's really good.

Wouldn't recommend it. It is too easy, you wont want to play it forever and will eventually get annoyed at people asking you to boot it up. Also, having that crappy plastic junk lying around taking up space will severely annoy you in no time.

Meh, all of the cross-Atlantic members here are criticising the quality of the equipment. I got the British stuff, and I honestly believe that they must have upped the standards when releasing it over here. Which would explain why it took so bloody long.

£120? does that include the game?
Blockbuster Games is a dream.

To reiterate a couple of points: If you have friends, Rock Band would be a great game to get. The guitar note charts are simpler than that of Guitar Hero, but can still provide a healthy challenge.
The singing is fun and easy mode will let even the most tone dead sing along.

Being a RL drummer, I find that the drumset provides a fun way to play along with some of my favorite rock tunes. But some of my less musically inclined friends have been totally destroyed by easy mode. So it depends I guess.

The game can get a bit boring if you play by yourself, but once you throw in a friend or two, or heck even a room full of onlookers, Rock Band becomes a fantastic game.

In summary, if you like rock and have a couple 'o friends Rock Band's a worthy purchase.

To add to this, look at the setlist online (including DLC), and see if it's stuff you like. I have it and me and my buds have plenty of fun with it. But if you don't host the parties, then I would say pass. Although if you have your heart set on the game, you can buy it without all the equipment.
