Is Roland(The soldier) way too over used

Probably, at least on the forums the Roland section gets much more traffic than the others. In my opinion it probably goes something like; Roland -> Mordecai -> Lilith -> Brick. I play as Mordecai personally as he was most appealing to me, snipers.... what can I say?

Oddly the Hunter Mordecai has a gunslinger talent Tree... give him a revolver and remind everyone how to aim, shoot, and kill. ^_~

Mordecai is the most overused one. Maybe because he can semi-spam 600 damage every 2 seconds by headshotting people with a sniper rifle.

Too bad that the hitboxes SUCK AS HELL and I rarely get a good shot... I either miss completely or I deal normal damage. But when I do hit, heads explode.

Since my friends' approach to any given combat encounter is to dogpile onto the baddies, sniping with Mordecai has not worked out at all. I respec'd into the revolver/pistol skills and have had a blast. I also threw some points into the bird skills, making sure that he does a good chunk of damage as well.

When deciding what character to use first, Roland was my natural choice. Good weapon loadout, balanced skills, and I figured every group online needs at least one Roland....

I plan on playing through with each character, and Mordecai will be my next one.

I personally went with Lilith. She's good looking, she can turn invisible and she's has deadly has they can get. What more can you possibly want?!

I can tell you a couple good reasons why he'd be the most overused:

• 1. He's the only real down-to-earth character, the other three are somewhat freakish in their own ways.
  2. The turret is a pretty awesome special ability. It's cover, added firepower, and can be used to pin down the angles you can't focus on.

But, is he the most overplayed for certain? No idea.

My friend bought the game and started as roland. I've played as mordecai, lilith, and brick, and I've got to say I like all three. Basically you're going eventually have groups of concentrated classes playing online, but I'd be more interested about the correlation between who your friends picked and their personality.

I think Roland may be the most initially appealing out of the bunch. It was mine and several of my friends first pick, and we hadn't even discussed who we were choosing beforehand. It also hasn't been uncommon for me to find myself in a room full of Rolands during online play. I have seen plenty of Bricks and Liliths running around though. I would say that Mordecai is the least chosen. However, after making Mordecai with a group of friends who wanted a rounded out team, I would say he's become my favorite (in other words, more people should try him out. Attack Hawks Rock!!!).

Go Mordecai.

Goint into every game, there is always a 1/4th chance that the others will play Roland. Since he's basically the best well rounded out of the 4 he is often chosen first. Soon everyone has a beefed up Roland and they want to play with him because he is there strongest. If a player dosen't have a Lillith, Mordecai or Brick Character are you gonna force them to play as one of them and proably get destroyed by the higher level characters?

The Soldier is the best all around character, but I really like playing as the Brawler. Especially when you start setting things on fire with your fists.

Lilith and Mordecai are overall better, but Roland is AMAZING in 4-player co-op. Cauterize (your bullets heal teammates) is probably the best single skill in co-op, and he gives team ammo regeneration.

The Gearbox forums are abuzz with how terrible Roland and Brick are compared to Lilith and Mordecai.

i love borderlands ending bit dogey tho and i agree i see every1 ply roland includeing me but i 1st choused mordacai for gunslinger but at the start it kinda forces snipers on u(he is sniper/revolvers) and it seems to force asult rifels on roland (he is asult rifels/shotguns)and id say it goes same for other guys so i guss that might be y pepol go for roland alot (atleast i see roland alot)but maby its cos rolands turet can give helth and amo
