I think dragons are stupid. I'll never understand why they're so revered, and even treated as Gods in some cases (World of Warcraft, to some extent Dragon Age) when they're nothing more than oversized lizards. Animals, essentially. I can understand why they would be feared by townsfolk who are intimidated by its size, but other than that, they're just daft animals to me. So that said, i for one hope that the dragons in Skyrim are, as you put it, just 'boss encounters with pretty backgrounds'.
..Get out. Just get out of here.

I'm sorry, but you could replace a Dragon with a giant talking Cow and it'd be the same thing. A huge animal people revere. It's not like Dragons even have opposable thumbs to write and create.

Though maybe there's something more to them that i'm just not getting. I guess i need to read some Tolkien-esque fantasy novels to 'get' it.

Totally agree. I particularly detest the Dragons that are all mystical and tasked to look over the world, ala World of Warcraft. Just seems stupid to me. Dragons are best when they're simply there to be shot by big game hunters. Now there's a dragon game I want to see.

And if I hear a dragon speak in a game I swear, I will implode.

I'm sorry, but I normally respect people opinion. But How the hell can you say you can replace dragons with a giant cow and it be the same. It won't be the same. A dragon is a huge beast the breath fire, has almost almost unbreakable scales and a powerful tail that can crush anything easily.

And these dragons have their own language and can talk. Please get back to me when a cow can do that. So shoo you negative people. This thread is for people who like dragons. Its gets annoying when people who "Don't get it" shows up and ruins the party.

It's mostly killing dragons in Dragon Age. You can "assist" a couple of them, but mostly killing.
Sadness. Plenty of games let you kill dragons. Few of them actually let you BE a dragon (Yes, I've seen Divinity 2. It looked like shit.) in any meaningful way.

I say we need a game where you plot as a villain dragon!
Before anyone says it, I think he means where you play as a REAL dragon, not SPYRO.

And that PS3 dragon game... I can't even remember the name now.. sucked bad.

Yeah I'm hoping Divinity 2 might be along the lines of something I like. Is it PC or Xbox360?
Bah, Spyro > any other dragon.

Ooh, a random encounter thats totally unfair and kills you without warning. Yeah, people love that.
Any random encounter can kill you without warning, you just have to suck enough. Not having played a demo of the game, I'd posit that dragons are random encounters that are actually challenging not unfairly hard or laughably easy.

I'm not saying they should be turned into cows. But the only dragons I enjoy seeing in games are the ones designed to be brutally murdered. I especially hate the dragons that help humans or talk or anything silly like that. Keep them as a beast - to be feared (by the peasants, of course, not our big Hero Knight!).

Except for Spyro. He kicks ass.

Hey TC try Divinity 2: The Dragon Knight Saga. 10 or so hours in you become a dragon & are able to morph into it at any time from that point on.
Do not waste your time with this pathetic excuse of a JRPG knock-off.

OT: I do not forsee a game going in the direction you're speaking of, OP, for a long, long time. Killing dragons is way too much fun. *rolls eyes*

Infinite dragons, wow. They could have made every dragon encounter special, with each dragon having unique abilities and attacks, yet Beth decides to throw in some more of their lazy copy + paste design by repeating the same fucking encounter over and over again. This idea of more = better is beyond retarded. If one dragon is cool that means that a million dragons must be like the coolest thing ever !!!
Umm, ya you do know that in all the gameplay of Skyrim and all the announcements they said, they showed off and talked about multiple dragon types with different sizes, strengths, and elemental powers such as fire, ice, etc.

Odds are the dragons in Skyrim will be mindless beasts. Don't reckon you will be able to have a sit down and discuss the important issues in life, until the modding community gets their hands on the developers tools and fixes all the things wrong with the game.

Dragons have always been around people they ain't going anywhere. Hell the ad on the bottom right is for a game called Dragon Nest.
Which is great, by the way.

Though Ironically I've yet to meet a dragon in that game, despite being half way to the level cap.

i Skyrim i think Dragons are a bit like Super Mutant Behemoths only random, and to be fair to Beth, these dragons have returned to destroy the world. being able to talk to or maby help even if you cant converse in dialog cus you know they're dragons chances are they haven't gotten round to learning English, with all the pillaging and killing they do, would be a nice moral choice. at the end of Witcher 2 you can choose to kill or spare a dragon. plus there Dragon Age 3 to hope for MOAR DRAGONS PLOX,

Dragons are simply awesome.
