Is skyrim too easy for anyone?

I don't like the difficulty in any of Bethesda's RPGs. No matter whether I'm a battle-axe wielding orc, a flame-casting Khajiit mage, or a Shotgun-toting Vault 101 survivor, the difficulty settings always seem offset by random challenges that are either too easy or way too difficult.

Right now I'm at 50% difficulty (Adept or whatever it is in Skyrim), and while my battle-axe decapitates measly bandits with delightful efficiency, electrocuting them with a bolt of lightning, freezing them with a jet of frost, or setting them aflame does practically nothing.

When I turn the difficulty just slightly up in order to make my Orc have a more interesting experience, suddenly my heavy armor is useless and my battle-axe comparable to a ruffled feather when a lithe female bandit wielding a dagger runs at me, cutting down half my health and finishing me off with one of those DAMNED-IRRITATING THIRD-PERSON WATCH-YOURSELF-STAND-THERE-AND-BE-SLAIN-EVENTS before I can even pause the menu and use a potion. (At that difficulty, my mage is pretty much just cat kibble.

What would be nice is if there was a parry system, where if you and an NPC swing at the same time, you both deflect the attack--maybe it would drain the tiniest bit of fatigue instead of health like blocking does--that way, if the difficulty was really easy, there would still be 'some' possibility of a challenge, and if the difficulty were really hard, you wouldn't be annoyed that the sword-wielding wood-elf before you is completely unaffected by the war-hammer that just, by rights, should have left half their face crushed grotesquely inside the other half, yet who keeps slashing away at you completely ignorant of their non-existent facial redecoration.

Or maybe not, I don't know. All I know is I'm irritated that hand-to-hand was removed. Oblivion was fun; disarm someone, paralyze them to the ground, and just punch their lights out. While the finishing moves for hand-to-hand in Skyrim are neat, not having any special abilities other than the 3-hit combo is very annoying, especially when that combo drains all your endurance.

So, yeah, difficulty is pretty goofy.

Sooo, killing enemies too quickly is too easy and you don't like it, but you think you should be able to kill enemies in 1 bow.....

Either up the difficulty, or use a dagger, or fists.

If you raise the difficulty, why would they enimies die FASTER?

I am currently only level 13-14, Playing on the default 'ADEPT' and I have to plan my attacks out. I die frequently if I get surrounded.

ok, so you're essentially saying that you can a one-shot sneak attack an 'expert' mode enemy while you need like two or more shots on 'novice' since the enemies 'die faster' on higher difficulty?
No, I think you guys are misunderstanding what I'm saying. I'm saying that enemies should do more damage to you, but they shouldn't be given a ton of health on top of that as well. Just increasing the damage multiplier would make simple things more dangerous but have it so that it doesn't take forever to whittle their health down, like if I wanted Skyrim to play more akin to something like Mount & Blade.

Wait...

You complain about difficulty, but you don't want to raise it? Seems like a pretty easy solution.

I'm currently a level 41 Rogue character and I gotta say this game is well balanced as far as gameplay goes. Morrowind still feels like the more challenging game, but Skyrim is not too far behind. What would be great is if there was a better way to strategize when in combat. I wish you could have 2 followers instead of just the one, for example I am a rogue and I currently have a tank follower who is Stengar, however he is a terrible tank and I find myself taking most of the agro when he goes down in a second whenever two or more people gang up on him. If there was a way for me to have a cleric type character healing the tank on the sidelines while I deal damage with backstabs this would be awesome. I don't know maybe like a more advanced companion wheel from new vegas that let you issue orders to your companions at the start of each encounter, something like Tank > melee > attack > dragon and then Cleric > restoration > heal > Tank and then the battle would play out normaly from there. Funny, sounds like a possible mod, plus I hear bethesda will use good mods as dlc for consoles. And while thats out there I also reccomend adding to this mod/patch/dlc a way to level up companions.

Okay I know this sounds like its turn base, but its not. The best way I can describe this is like in ultima seven when you deck out your party and then go into battle, except you actually have control of your own character while the followes follow your orders to the letter initialy.

Also, even at level 41 those elder dragons are tough fights.

...You complain that the game is too easy but won't up the difficulty because you should be able to one shot someone... make up your mind, do you want it easy or hard?
I think that the game lacks challenging encounters that should be challenging, for example, it takes me 10 seconds to down a frost troll, and 5 seconds to down a dragon. Dragons should be WAY harder, and there should be more encounters with dozens of people about to mob you. What I am saying is, if I up the difficulty to make dragon fights hard, then suddenly mudcrabs will be a challenge too. I will be sitting there whacking at a mud crab for 2 minutes just like in oblivion.
...No you won't, you don't really have a leg to stand on here if your campaigning for an increase in difficulty that the game provides

Was at Shearpoint (Something like that) where I had a mission to uncover the source of power (New shout word) and a bounty to kill a Dragon.

Turns out said dragon was an Elder Dragon. And Shearpoint also happens to be home to a Dragon Priest. Skyrim can be bastardly hard sometimes.

I'm playing as a Archer/dual wielding/light armor character not using stealth and I find the combat bery interesting. I can own normal foes like nothing but a mage or a warrior with a two handed weapon could still kill me.

At first I thought it was way too easy, so I upped it to master. Hard as hell, man. I was getting my ass handed to me. My only chance for survival was conjuration and sneak attacks. Got my sneak, bow and conjuration skill up high, with several perks.

Then I got my hands on a lot of money through the Dark Brotherhood assassinations, and bought my way to resources by fast traveling from vendor to vendor.
After a while, I had 100 in smithing, and had made myself a full Daedric armor (which for some reason is better than dragon armor, by the way) and two Daedric war axes, with a bow on the side.

After that, I leveled up my heavy armor to some 70, and got the fifth rank of the first perk.

Before I knew it, I had become a level 40 killing machine, starting with surprising sneak attacks, going to conjuration and ending with a dessert of shouts and dual wield axe'ing.

It can still be quite challenging with the harder mobs/bosses (especially the final boss and the dragon priests). And with challenge comes entertainment.

Advice to anyone who has it too easy: Up the difficulty.
Advice to anyone who has it too hard: Suck it up, fool. Start with sneaking. Get your hands on a companion, or learn some awesome conjuration spells, then go to smithing when you have the money. Don't go for harder enemies at first. They are hard, because you are too weak to kill them. Remember that revenge is a dish best served cold.

You can always make the game harder for yourself by deliberately using crap gear, or not letting yourself use potions/restoration spells, or no companions, or any number of different ways without ever touching the difficulty slider

I left it on adept, the default difficulty setting, and I'm not finding it as easy as everyone else claims it is. Maybe I'm not putting points in the same skills, or maybe I'm just not very good at the whole thing. As it stands, dragons are challenging, but I should be able to beat them. Giants I run the fuck away from. Spellcasters are also bad.

This guy is either a troll or is a high level and just now starts to think the game is easy. Up the challenge the way it was made to or stop qqing about it not being super hard since we all remember how easy oblivion was even on the harder difficulties.

go try and kill the Grey beards or fight some giants head on.
I have already taken down a group of 4 giants alone, and only one got a hit on me. Aren't the gray beards immortal (They just get wounded and then get back up?)
I don't know if they are, i have not even been able to half the health of one. you get the to the point were they will fight you they stand up slowly turn around, and freeze you solid. They then just beat you to death.

Title pretty much says it all. I see 2 groups of bandits and a dragon and I know I'll be able to down all of them in about 10 seconds with my swords, without losing any health. Upping the difficulty makes the game unrealistic, a warhammer to the face should kill someone. Anyone else having this problem?
Sooo... you want a hard game where you can one hit kill people but still be at risk of death? take off all your armour and don't use health potions, then use the weapon you are worst with. Problem solved
