No way, old broken down shit is awesome. I went through an abandoned orphanage recently. Creepy as hell, like a real life Shalebridge Cradle, and most definitely unsafe but it was an exciting experience for sure.[/quote

Lest summer I went on somehting called the "reserve fleet" which is a bunch of boats tied together and left there to rot. They dont let ppl on it unless you have an engineering licence and are going there to take parts for a working and inservice ship. It was the most fun I have ever had it was soo cool. All the stuff is still there its like a ghost ship. I went with my grandfather who went on it with his crew to get parts. But i was running around picking up such cool shit. I found 2 900$ gasmasks in perfect condition, Inside the firefighting room as well as paper money and other shit. I felt like i was in fallout :)

O.k Idk if I am the only one but i have yet to meet another person like me. I really find beauty in the decrepit or like the dilapidated. Like Urban sprawl or an old abandon house. I'm not some pessimistic like goth guy or anything of the sort. I'm I really funny and happy guy for the most part. I also find beauty in the crazy or insane. The pictures of Hieronymus Bosch really interest me. Now dont get me wrong there is nothing more beautiful than a gorgeous girl or the moon and stars. And I have a completely normal gf and a normal life. but is this wierd? is any one else like this? and if so what would you call it?
You're completely normal. Your just on the wrong website. This is the subject of a looot of photography and art. There is also a hobby (who's name I can't remember) where the point is to sneak into abandoned buildings and factories etc. and explore. This usually involves taking photos as well, but is more on the fringe side of things since the act is illegal and dangerous. Get Googling and you will find tons of this stuff...

It's called urbex (urban exploration). I just posted about it, and saw your post, so I decided to be helpful.

Don't worry about being "normal". "Normal" is overrated. Besides, it's your own opinion of what's beautiful and interesting. Even if you tried, you couldn't change it. Just accept it and be happy that you're unique.
Don't you understand, it's precisely because they're NOT normal that they're unhappy! And all you're doing is encouraging them to STAY UNHAPPY! How can you be so cruel?
Doesn't seem that way to me. So far the OP sounds pretty excited about their love of the unique and "abnormal". Also, you suggested they seek psychiatric help and solve the "problem" (which isn't really a problem) with drugs? That's my definition of cruel. Why alter who you are to fit some malformed societal stereotype?

That is pretty sweet. That's like my favorite part of the Fallout games (exploring and taking cool stuff) so the fact you got to do that in real life makes me extremely jealous.

Yes, something is wrong with you.

It may have NOTHING to do with the stuff you were talking about, but something is wrong with you.

Something is wrong with everyone if that's a more comforting thought.

I've always felt graveyards were far more peaceful and far less terrifying places than what most people make them out to be, so I suppose there's that.

I guess if you're talking overgwoth in abandoned buildings, I believe alot of people find that beautiful.

So, you like old places because they make you feel sad, but sad is happy for deep people, so you're fine.

Just watch out for Angels...

Okay, I'll cut the Doctor Who references now.
Off Topic: Tht was a good episode :D

You know, it is very possible to like things two things that are opposites. It is possible to like a sweet candy or a sour lemon, just as it's possible to like red and green, or blue and orange. As far as music, I like everything from calm piano solos to Dragonforce, and Nightwish to religious ballads. I like country and rock. Everyone is like this, in one form or another. So it makes perfect sense you could like Bosch and beautiful women. Hell, it would make you unusual if you couldn't see beauty in different things. I've known plenty of people who love the artworks of the renaissance and Picasso. Two completely different things.

I feel like either one of two things is going on here with you. Either you are seeking camaraderie and validation by trying to find others with similar interests (considering it seems you have no one else near you that likes those things), or you hope that by putting a big flashing sign on your "unique" qualities and asking people to discuss them you will gain attention and cause others to confirm and praise just how different you think you are. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but in my experience if someone wants to start a conversation about their quirks that are "so different" or they "can't explain," they're either attention seekers or just narcissists. Or both.

You are the least accurate judge of who you are and what makes you unique. Whatever you decide is your "thing" or something that is "unusual" about you, you are either dead wrong or you have picked that for the wrong reasons. Your character isn't based on what you think of you. It's based on what others think of you.

Hey I'm the most mature 15 year old in my school, probably the most mature student in the school period, and I'm stuck in there with kids who make fun of me for being mature and smart, also having the ability to focus on something for more than 10 minutes. "It's a dirty dirty job but someones gotta do it o uh uh o"
I'm also depressed and suicidal but I'm doing just fine, so you are too.

the best part is that I have this thing the teachers call an imagination and 90% of the kids in my school don't have one, So I have the luxury of playing movies in my head like the cult classic "Hundreds of Scenarios of what my family does after I kill myself" or the family favorite "Lean how to draw well in detention after punching a kid in the face!" not to forget the box office hit "YOU GOT WHAT GRADE IN THAT CLASS?"

Oh yes, an imagination is a wonderful thing. Best waste of time you can have, and very often the worst too!

Also don't kill yourself, that's for cowards.

OP, I'm similar.

A hipster photography student?

There are Facebook, Livejournal, Tumblr etc. groups which focus on beauty found in the decaying and old. You're not weird. You're actually just following a trend which keeps rearing its (literally) ugly head.
That's a bit presumptuous.

What is? The first sentence is a joke. The following paragraph is not presumptuous at all, it's true - I can link you to the multitude of groups there are specifically for this trend. The rearing its literal ugly head is, again, a bit of wordplay.

In typing this I realise you almost certainly mean I was implying the OP was following a trend to try and appear cool? Little presumptuous of you, don't you think? :D (that's also a joke, in case it's lost on you too)

no it's only cowardly if you can't face life, I just find I'm bored with life at this point, waiting till my grandparents pass away [ which I hope isn't for a while ] so I don't hurt them and see if life throws me a curve ball so I'll stay.
I'm not one of those emotionless depressed dope heads who kill themselves because they gave up on life and family, I care about others.
