I really feel that TF2 is dying. Not in its playerbase, but that the game is actively trying to kill itself.
With every update, the core gameplay seems to keep getting buried under more and more stuff, until is barely resembles itself.
I find that the core gameplay remains pretty much the same, with additions being mostly cosmetic or not deviating too much from the general formula.

I came into the game around the Sniper Vs Spy update. I would have been happy if major updates had stopped by the time the Engineer update finally rolled around. But they didn't. Trading was added to the game.
I intend no offense, but you came into the game kinda late. I've been playing it since the beta, and I'm eagerly awaiting every new bit of content, to spice up the gameplay. Most things go rather stale after 3 years, TF2 included.

Halloween doesn't last all year, you know. More weapons? As a smart man once said "Use more gun." I support him.

It is just too much now. When the game first started, each class had a very specific role to play. While these roles are still available, they just aren't being used as much. Classes aren't acting the way they should be.
Wat? The scout still bonks people on the head, the soldier is still an allround frontline unit, the medic still heals and the spy is still a backstabbing ************ (fnar fnar).

The worst I feel is the GRU for the heavy. These boxing gloves make the heavy run at high speeds to be a melee class. That is not supposed to be the heavy's strongpoint!
I haven't really seen a heavy melee with the GRU, it's just a simple tool for getting to the frontlines fast.

Anyway, it is seriously bothering me.
TLDR: Is TF2 dying under its own weight?
No, I don't think it is.
