Is the Wii really that bad??

I keep hearing complaints about every game console, but out of all the current gen consoles the wii gets bashed more then any other... I'm just curious as to why, the Wii was the first of the 3 consoles that i got and i think they all have there good points. So, my main question is what made the Wii get such a bad rep? If you dislike the Wii, why? Just wanting some opinions on the matter

It seems to be because people think its an insult to gaming or whatever that theres a console aimed at a slightly different (not 'hardcore') audience.

As far as im concerned, whatever people are in to is good

The people who say the Wii sucks say so because it has very few games that appeal to them. They think that just because they don't find the games fun, they aren't fun for everyone and, therefore, the whole system sucks. These people really just need to step back and think "you know, I'm not the only person in the world and other people can have their own opinions too."

It's also true that many more people like the Wii than you would think. it just appears that the whole world hates the Wii because most of the people that would be posting on gaming forums are the ritalin-popping, homophobes that hate anything that isn't rated "M/17+(or whatever the british equivalent is).

No. It just isn't for the "hardcore" crowd and being the wise group that they are they immediately attack it at every opportunity because it doesn't cater to them.

Annoying casual games are as bad as mindless fpses. However, the Wii despite not having many hardcore titles still has more worthwhile exclusives than the ps3. I will now count off all worthwhile exclusives for all the consoles to make a point.

Bear in mind this is exclusives, not overall games.

Wii: Madworld, House o' dead O.K., Mario Kart, Mario Galaxy, Twilight princess, Metroid Prime 3 Corruption, No more Heroes and Brawl, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn.

PS3: A lotta little downloadble games that while enjoyable don't last that long, Little Big Planet Rachet and Clack games.

360: Crackdown, Gears, Dead Rising, Halo, Overlord, Mass Effect, Bethesda games DLC.

This list is what I could think of immediately, and yes I am aware of MGS4 shut up fanboy.

People from outside the UK may not get this reference, but to me, the Wii is like the company JML.

They make products on the basis of a gimmick, or try to seduce you by offering to fill a gap yet unfilled, but if you think about it for more than a few seconds, you realise that the reason nobody has filled that gap is because it's a crummy idea.

Well, I used to like it. But now, it's just kiddie games, and 'casual games'. Brawl was good, as well as the new zelda, but that's about it. I'm just waiting for the next generation, hopefully they'll go back to the controller idea.

The Conduit looks like a terrible game. Part of the problem is that they didn't utilize the potential of the Wii. They just made a low graphic generic FPS.

I think the Wii is a gimmick of crap, observable through it's poor forcing of its gimmicks (i.e. controller shaking) where it really shouldn't be. Don't get me wrong, if you like the Wii, good for you. Use what you like. Console arguments are pointless and stupid. If you ask my opinion though (because I don't care enough to put my opinion where it isn't), I've been in the opinion that Nintendo has not been trying for the past few years. What I've played at my friend's house did NOTHING to dissuade me. And this includes games I really WANTED to like.
