the forerunner to pretty much every game ever existed. should be banned under this law :p. i like that, but i dare say some uproar would commence if it did.

Modern Warfare 2.

What value does it have? Replace it all with different colored boxes, and suddenly it's a stupidly complex reaction test involving multiple people.

This thread is about REDEEMING SOCIAL, POLITICAL AND/OR CULTURAL VALUE.

NOTHING ELSE.
Postal 2 has a bit of political value about how humanity can just flip the fuck out. Dead Rising 2 has a bit of political value (for the US anyway, woo Canada :D) about how health care can be depressingly hard to find. That or you pay through the nose for it, then sacrifice a goat, lamb and the moon every month to keep it.

/epicly huge exaggeration

Burnout, I suppose, because at the end of the day, it's still throwing your hot wheels at the wall.

People could say GTA IV, but frankly I see it as a gigantic abstract painting of the "American Dream" and how we look from a third person perspective.

"The Man Game"

If you know what it is, you know why.
If you don't know what it is, well keep it that way.
I don't even understand why this game was made in the first place.

Tetris. Or Pacman. Why does a game need a justification? It's a sodding game
You think that Tetris has no redeeming cultural value?

Are you an idiot?
I suppose it is equal opportunities when it comes to the colour of the bricks...

I don't know if I view that as political value but instead as political statements. The value I'd find is more social value, as it allows the players to explore different aspects of themselves, or even just to vent frustration and anger in a safe manner.

I think that while games may not be redeemed by the various values they have, I have yet to find one that has no value whatsoever.
