I've been thinking, and I've come to the conclusion that I think I wouldn't care if my food was either dog meat or monkey. I don't care if I've had a dog as a pet, I'd still be eating dog meat if it was served to me.

Is there any of you who wouldn't eat a certain kind of meat, based on what animal it came from? (Saying yes because it tastes bad, is not a valid reason here.)

As a vegetarian, all of them.

But to look at the wider picture (and try to not get flamed), why should you not eat any particular kind of meat? It's all just animals.
To take the OP's example: why not dog? Other cultures eat them just the same, and it's not like they do anything for humanity any more (except pets)

Heaps, I reckon.
Cats, dogs, guinea pigs, monkeys, people; I couldn't eat animals that have "personality."
And hey, maybe cows and pigs and chickens do have personality, but I've been brought up with the knowledge that they taste awesome, so I have no problem with eating them.

Because most people don't realize that NO ONE eats 'pet' dogs. They have an image of some asian restaurant slicing up a Labrador for dinner.

In actuality, consumable dogs are bred for being consumed. If you ever saw one (Well, not you, as you are vegetarian, but a meat consumer version of you), you'd feel no compulsion to deny yourself what I am told is some pretty tasty meat.

No humans or endangered animals.

But if cows become endangered, I won't stop eating them. I love me some steak!

Humans.

Any other species of meat is fair game. I'm actually quite curious, if only due to ridiculous extravagance, for the taste of the more endangered critters.

I would eat everything that is meat, meaning I would not eat insects, nor jellyfish.
Apart from that I would not like to eat monkey, for some reason...
Well, and anything endangered...

Edit:
Yeah, no human meat either, I thought that went without saying.

Human, Animals you normally wouldn't eat, and Fish/Shellfish. I hate Fish and Shellfish, it doesn't taste good to me.

Any. If you could harvest human meat ethically (say, via volunteer or vat-grown meat) I'd try that too.

Well, I refuse to eat organ meats, eating something like pork chops or chicken breast is fine but I won't eat heart or lungs or liver or anything like that. And I won't touch human meat (for obvious reasons), nor anything endangered (because I support environmentalism).

However, aside from that, I'm fine with at least trying any kind of meat. I love duck, I've eaten veal before, and I'd love to try venison (fortunately the supermarket I now work at does stock venison, however I wouldn't be able to afford it even if I wanted to buy some soon). I've made a promise to myself to try sushi before the end of this last year at university (as one of my things on my list of things to do in my final year at uni). And I'd be up for trying something like buffalo or kangaroo or crocodile. Not really certain about frog's legs, though I might give it a try sometime.

So yeah, aside from endangered, human or organ meats, I'm very open minded in what meat I'd like to try :p.

Frog legs, I swear to God, actually DO taste like chicken. its just a bit saltier.

Try it once at least. Afterwards, you'll never eat it again though... not because of taste, but because its easier to eat a big chicken breast than two dozen frog legs.

Human and feline.

Anything else I'd try without problem (as long as a professional cook/chef... or at least someone experienced in how to cook whatever meat it is... cooked it. I once tried to cook alligator and it turned horrible and rubbery and stank the house out.)
