Is there anything particularly wrong with yaoi?

I'm not a fan of yaoi, but I'm not totally against it. Speaking as a straight guy who's confident in his sexuality, I can see the appeal of certain pairings and have even seen several yaoi pictures I've liked. That said, the majority does not appeal to me, primarily due to my personal aesthetics deterring me, usually based on subject pairing or artistic style.

It's Guy-on-Guy, cartoon porn, if you seriously think that no one would have an issue with that, then I envy you your naive young mind.

I personally don't give a toss, if you're not into it, don't read/watch it, problem solved.

I've never been a heterosexual male, and they're the only ones (along with other miscellaneous homophobes.) who seem to have a major problem with it, so I couldn't say. I don't watch/read yaoi that much. It's not that I have a problem with homosexuality (to do so would be in conflict with my personal beliefs and somewhat hypocritical.) but then again I hardly ever watch/read pornography or romantic stories anyway. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the genders of the participants, they're just not really my thing.

I get what you're saying, but people I know are even freaked out by the soft core (non pornographic) stuff.

Well my only real experience with yaoi would be seeing a bit of it on display at Supernova this year. There wasn't anything too bad about it, just some guys in speedos standing in front of rainbows.

Mind you I've been raised in an environment of acceptance for homosexuals, one of my dads best friends is gay as are my friends neighbours but it makes them happy so who am I to judge.

Funnily enough yesterday was the first time I saw two men making out.

I'm 27. Been reading shounenai (classic, usually ends badly) BL (romance) & yaoi (pure smut) since I was 15. Bara is yaoi for men.

If you want to get REALLY technical, yaoi is strictly "fan characters" & June is "original characters," so yaoi only pertains to doujinshi & fanfiction. That's how it works in Japan anyway.

Most of them aren't as deep & dark as Zetsuai/Bronze (Two underaged boys who LOOK like they're in their mid 20s. Rape, stalking, fratricide, incest, bisexuality, blackmail, spousal abuse, family history of mental illness, etc.)

Then there's Kusatta Kyoushi no Houteishiki. (Fairly softcore but still yaoi. A very long story about a student who has a crush on one teacher & then falls for the teacher's brother. He starts off as a young uke & quickly matures into a seme, which amplifies the comedy).
Damn Japanese, first they use the teletubbies as pornographic sex dolls, then they ruin porn itself by making it so bloody clomplicated? Gawd, I just....gawd....screw you Japan....screw you!

Pretty much what Aby said.

I find it amusing that most yaoi fans are female... I read something somewhere about it being about 'romance that girls don't feel like they have to compete with'. Het romance apparently makes girls insecure.

Is that why guys like girl-on-girl?
Guys like girl-on-girl because there are twice as many boobies :D

I have a problem with cartoon porn of any sort, and I'm not gay, not that I have a problem with gay people, so it just bothers me on a very instinctual level.

I cannot read yaoi with a straight face, no matter what it is, I laugh. Just the over the top effeminate guys or just the weirdest things they say I cannot take it seriously, but I still enjoy it.

There is nothing really wrong about Yaoi.I've read some which were quite sweet.Like that one Kingdom Hearts one that I read.
But I find it funny that I get judged for liking Yuri.Which is the female counterpart of Yaoi.

I just went and looked at hentai, gross. It was like S&M gangrape. WTF?
Porn isn't really my thing, but I admit I know enough to say that's not an all-encompassing theme. It's like if you look for porn of Optimus Prime getting it on with Darth Vader, that's what you'll find.

Here's an article not written by me from 918thefan.com explaining why women like yaoi http://918thefan.com/2010/tempests-downpour-why-women-want-yaoi/

I don't care for it being a straight man but I guess I see the appeal for others.

Bah, nothing wrong with it. I'll be damned if I watch it, but I will not heap scorn on those who do.

It's just gay porn in manga form. If you're a homophobe, or if you don't like seeing gay sex, you won't like Yaoi. Not too surprising.
I'd agree, but I'd also mention that about half of yaoi is of pre-existing characters having sex, so if you don't like seeing things like Seifer pleasing Squall, it may be best to not check it out.
