Is there anything wrong with Bethesda softworks?

Oblivion was just an aesthetically pretty, watered down version of Morrowind with better graphics and crappier armor. I mean, what happened to wearing CLOTHES under your armor? Who wants to have their Wee-Willy rubbing against the roughness of leather for an ingame year while batting off hordes of zombies, random wolves and cougars, and demons while you try to prevent the apocalypse by getting some dirty monk to the church so he can turn into a dragon and kill the devil? That's a WTF?! moment right there... YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE A FINAL BOSS FIGHT! I mean, even Morrowind had that stab the baddie and beat the crap out of the Heart or somesuch, and the GOTY edition had TWO MORE FREAKING BOSS FIGHTS! What... the... FUCK Bethesda? That and Morrowind took an ass load of time to complete*it one of the first games I got for the Xbox, which I have had for 4 or 5 years, and I STILL have not beaten Morrowind Legitimately and Completely*. I thought Morrowind had awesome looking weapons that took you HOURS to assemble together, bad ass armor that took you EVEN LONGER to assemble, a great character create section with the ability to pick from a list of races that would actually get you to the end of the game if you play off their strengths. But it had a lot of flaws, like boring reading walls of text dialogue, two or three cut-scenes total that didn't explain SHIT, and stiff characters who looked rather bored. Oblivion was worse. No cut-scenes, stiff characters with the same two or three voice actors doing the dialogue for everyone BADLY, and the weapons were mediocre to say the least. Though it is fun to run around knocking deer over the head with an enchanted plank of wood with nails stuck through it. All the armors look pretty much the same, and SUCKED. You could get a better armor rating by wearing clothes with shield enchantments. If you got a good spell and an ass load of mana potions, all you had to do was spam it and you would kill anything. Unless of course it absorbed or sent it straight back at you. It was like Oblivion is the little brother of Morrowind, and tried to live up to his legacy by copying him in every way, and not doing a good job of it... Disappointing...

Having said that, I have not played Fallout 3, but it doesn't seem like that bad of a game. Everyone says it's just Oblivion with guns and a Nuclear Wasteland, but I guess I might have to rent it from Blockbuster or something...

Bethesda are awesome. The reason it died in MM is because whilst it's a big developer, it came up against a giant. As in a Valve sized giant.

The reason people prefer Morrowind to Oblivion? Storyline. The story to Morrowind was much more in depth, much more mature than the Oblivion storyline.

The main problem with their games is that they build great worlds yet they can't make them very immersive

Oblivion= Pretty trees etc (though copypasta'd) and UGLY annoying NPC'S who might be robots(I swear your gonna wake up on a simulation bed)

Fallout 3= Somewhat more fun but still lacks any direction, 10 pts for music though

I've only played three games made by Bethesda: Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3. I disliked the latter two_Oblivion was just stale compared to Morrowind. I didn't like fallout 3 because a) it was too much like Oblivion, and b) it pales in comparison to the originals.

the designs for the weps sucked. the only mace design i liked was the steel.
and no spears!
fallout 3 is a lot like oblivion but with less fun glitches to take advantage of. only glitches that give you lots of trouble...

So this is the design idea... Tamriel got nuked and aliens introduced guns and lasers. Also, Bethesda took out all the fun glitches, which were about two or three, and said "Let's call it a day. We've got guns, which are like crossbows I guess, and leave all the bad glitches that no body likes to deal with. WE'LL MAKE BILLIONS! :D"

Oi... maybe I won't rent it after all...

Fallout 3 is much better than Oblivion though still very buggy.

Bethesda would benefit greatly from a new QA team and better writers/quest designers.

Yea, in a nutshell, they're both the same game.
When I first started it, I said "Bethesda is all over this"
hud and all.

Beth copped allot of heat since Oblivion. Mainly because of three issues: DRM, game stability and DLC. Many Morrowind fans were pretty peeved at the DLC. Beth used to hand them out for free. A good example is when they were charging for horse armour. Many people thought was going to be in the actual game on release, but wasn't and hence accusations of deliberately leaving out content to make more dollars. At the time I think there were 5 DLC's that were of small content, but would have cost almost as much as 2/3rds of the original game.

Fallout3 was criticised by many for the bugs on all the platforms and the DRM that installed securom crap on peoples machines, when they used the game launcher, but not the game exe. Overall I think Beth makes pretty good games, but they really need to have better customer focus like they did in the past.

I love the games that they've made. I had to leave Oblivion at home when I went off to college because I was sure that I'd get sucked back into the realm of Cyrodiil and never escape.
My only complaint came after I got Fallout 3, and it kept crashing after 5 minutes of playtime. I did get it fixed, though, and I jumped right back in.

Something wrong?! More bugs than a cockroach hideaway. Latest Fallout 3 expansion proves it(!).

I don't think they suck at all.
You must be easily impressed then.
Well, i enjoy having bugs in games. I don't need the game completely perfect to enjoy it. As long as a bug dosen't cause a cheap death are any problems to the gameplay, I don't care.

i personally think they're an amazing game studio.
People might say that because their games can get a little glitchy, but I believe the sheer scale of their games excuses that.
Morrowind was great, Oblivion was better, and Fallout 3 was amazing.

Their stories leave a lot to be desired.

The characters in most of their games are very formulaic

They can't craft a good ending to save their lives...

Plenty wrong with them.
