No, there's not enough. As for the immaturity of it, it takes all kinds. Sex in Witcher appealed to the male fantasy of being a womanizing ladies man, who in between killing monsters bedded everyone with a skirt on. On the other hand, in Baldur's Gate 2 you developed a romantic bond with your person of interest, and the actual sex was very subtle. The Sims approached sex with humor. I liked all three approaches, and as video games mature as an art form, I like to see developers experimenting with different aspects of storytelling, including sex.

What we don't need is game developers being afraid to include sexual content, because Fox News might collect a panel of morons to gasp and moan about digital porn, when you see two seconds of bare ass in a game intended for mature audiences.

Someone needs to stop playing eroge.

as long as they keep it optional, i don't really mind how much they put in. Not saying it all has to be optional, but it should be a very minor part of the main storyline.
That's the wrong way to look at it. It shouldn't be something they tuck in the corner for horny teenagers to unlock. It should be something used to further the story in some way. Sex and sexuality are natural parts of our lives. It's part of the human experience.

...okay, I know y'all haven't suddenly started playing games in a certain genre I frequent.

A question of "is there too much sex in video games" rings with impressive irony from a crowd that's probably never even heard of "<url=http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0/3715/561488-comeseeme_large.jpg>Come See Me Tonight" or "<url=http://www.pwned.com/gamecovers/pc/1254660970-Cosplay_Fetish_Academy.jpg>Cosplay Fetish Academy."

And answers of "No, we need more!" make me wonder if people have even heard of games like "<url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.135672-Neutral-Drow-reviews-A-Drug-That-Makes-You-Dream>A Drug That Makes You Dream" or "<url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.206764-Neutral-Drow-reviews-Kana-Little-Sister>Kana: Little Sister."

Well speaking as a single guy, i'd be hard pressed to say that a game has too much sex in it (With the exception of Playboy: The Mansion). However, speaking as a player of B-game visual novels, in some cases there is too much, but then again that's the sole reason people play those games so you have to be willing to take that into account
My problem mainly comes when people interpret A-list visual novels to be no better because they share that one characteristic with the B-list.

Don't get me wrong, I'm willing to at least try the shallower games, but still.

I don't know about you, but I like to play video games while having sex. Nothing like trying to multitask and end up doing both poorly.
speak for yourself there man. Both me and my girlfriend like video games and we were on the couch one night...
anyway, my character died about five mins in but i wasn't really focusing on the game at that point...

It is part of the human condition and it helps characters in a game that are obviously attracted to each other express it better than witty banter the whole time.

Not good in excess but a little here and there never hurt. Anything to keep you forgetting that they're just 1's and 0's works great!

There isn't enough. There's plenty of sex in movies so why should games be restricted? Dumb fucking parents are too blame. They assume every game is okay for a child but not every movie. It's because of dumb people that don't check the ratings that mature gamers suffer by being treated like children.

I really haven't noticed and don't care. When there is a sex scene I take it as a time to take a break and just let it play out. The scene is entirely pointless and is just fan service.

...isn't that the same thing as what I just said? never under estimate the power of distraction on your gaming prowess.

now, if you can say, play Starcraft or something proficiently while having sex, THEN I will give you mad kudos.

Yes definately, while im not talking about outright sex, I mean over-sexualisation of female characters etc.

Dammit, if I want to see sex I'll watch porn.

I've never really noticed sex in games. The Sims and Dragon Age are the only ones I can think of. Considering how most games have trouble delivering dialogue in everyday situations without it being awkward and cringey, I can't really imagine the subtleties of a sex scene being executed without the result being considerably worse. Though I'd quite happily be proven wrong.

There really isn't much sex in games. There is certainly a lot of sexualisation with highly fetishised women on display but very little actual sex.

I'm not really sure of where I stand on the issue of sex in games because on one hand in games like say Mass Effect where there is dialouge and character development leading up to the final scene which is more emotional then it is arousing (case in point, Ashley and Shepard) despite having fully nude people and fairly obviously implied sex. Largely this is because they were still tasteful and not ridiculously exploitative. Also the two characters involved looked like actual human beings (unless... you know... they were aliens) and not like they were airbrushed to look like an ideal of the male or female form (I'm only talking about Mass Effect 1 here) so it wasn't immature.
So I have no problem with those.
(That said Mass Effect 2's were kind of toned down a fair bit, which is wierd given that in that game most of the characters were airbrushed to look as sexy as possible)

But then you have games like God of War 3 which have pointlessly added on sex scenes that don't help the plot in any way and are gratuitous and seem to be filling out the secret fantasies of teenage boys by having busty bare breasted women gasp in awe at how amazing Kratos is as boning and then proceed to make out with each other in arousal. Stuff like this just gives games a bad reputation and really these kinds of scenes warrant actual controversy, not Mass Effect's. So I certainly don't approve of games doing this, but given that not many games do it, it's not really a huge issue.

So no, I don't think there is 'too much sex' or at least not yet, but it's getting there. And while games like Mass Effect have simple regular scenes about the emotional attachment of sex, some games are clearly just marketting exploitation. So while I don't think our current state is that bad I do think things need improving, sex should only be in games if it makes sense and is relevant to the plot, otherwise I have difficulty condoning it.
