Some call it "romance" others "sex" but whatever you choose to call it, is there too much of it?

Imo, I think not. To me it adds more entertainment to gaming, it gives the adventurers something to do in camp besides stand there looking bored, and it adds more to any relationships the game publisher allows to develop.

I say to Bioware, Lionware and other developers who aren't too timid to bring it on, give us more.

Sex as in rumpy pumpy? Hell no...(rumpy pumpy yes stolen from Tank Girl)

A chick in a itty bitty bikini is not sex in my mind. And if it is in someone elses mind they need to get LAID.

I don't think so, I think there's just the right amount. Though Bioware has kinda pussed out in its last 2 games. The sex scenes in Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2 were laughably awkward. The sex scenes in Mass Effect 1, however were very tastefully done. Great cinematography, and they definitely underplayed it, which I think is the way to go when it comes to that.

Heavy Rain's was also well done too.

Not that I have noticed, sorry.
Then again lately I have been out of touch with some of the newer games.

No, it helps with charaterization. The scene in RDR really helped me realize what kind of a guy Abraham Reyes really was.

um, no. I don't really see much at all, let alone too much. Can you maybe give examples as to why you would think there's too much?

Too much? Hell no! Not enough sex!

In all seriousness though, it's never a case of 'too much', rather it's the case of 'was that really necessary?'. It can be used to push the story, showing the relationships these characters have and so on, but too often it's just "We've got nothing engaging in this game. Quick! Deploy the jiggle physics!".

If used to genuinely enhance the story, then it's fine, but if it doesn't, then it's symptomatic of more than just a prevalence in games. It's symptematic of a bad game trying to distract you from its faults.

no. not at all.

In fact, it kind of points out the incredibly fucked up values that our society espouses. A game where people get casually blown up into a million giblets? no problem, that's a T rating game.

Add in a boob and suddenly we're looking at an M or even AO rating. The AO rating, btw, is why a lot of companies avoid out and out sexual content at all cost. Getting an AO rating is pretty much the best way to ensure your game will be a commercial failure.

Ironically though, while outright sex is not in the game, sexism and over sexualization of characters are pretty much the norm. Just look at any game with a female lead protagonist from games developed with a T rating in mind. Every single one will feature a female character whose design is a design to be sexualized. (Bayonetta anyone?)

OF COURSE NOT!

Most games still have none, how can there be too much?

The only requirement I have for it is that it add to the game; fan service always makes me feel like a perv.

Definitely not enough. There needs to be more sex to balance out all the violence.

But that was like the whole point, wasn't it? I can see what you're saying, but it's not like they went "Okay, so we got this fighting game... now let's sex the hell out of it." Also: Metroid Prime trilogy. :D

OT: Don't really think there's too much, I honestly don't see a whole lot. Don't mind if there is any, though.

Well speaking as a single guy, i'd be hard pressed to say that a game has too much sex in it (With the exception of Playboy: The Mansion). However, speaking as a player of B-game visual novels, in some cases there is too much, but then again that's the sole reason people play those games so you have to be willing to take that into account
