I usually don't physically react very much to pain. I just sort of let it wash over me. If it's prolonged I tend to get grumpy. If it's sudden I usually have a moment of shock/frustration and then go back to whatever I was doing. If it's extreme I'll usually just grimace and stop what I'm doing. I've passed out a couple of times from serious injuries though.

I usually get annoyed then continue. I wouldn't say it's an unusual reaction to pain though. What i WOULD say is an unusual reaction to pain is whenever I get sacked I tend to laugh. Why? Because it's so small, the pain is minimal, and actually kinda tickles. Maybe I'm just a sadomasochist.

It honestly depends on my mood and the severity of the pain as well as the cause of the pain.
-If, say I or someone else, slams one of my body parts in a door/with a hammer/heavy object in between it and another heavy object I will scream swear words and made up words and probably cry depending on the body part.
-My brother, 2 weeks ago, elbowed the top of my head and it hurt enough to make my eyes water and me fight back tears (because I refuse to cry in public if I can help it).
-I cry when I have bad panic attacks/anxiety attacks/asthma attacks but I think that's more reaction of not enough air is getting to my lungs/oxygen to my brain and I don't know what else to do and feel utterly helpless and start crying. I'm not talking minor asthma attacks either that go away in a minuter or two after use of inhaler. I'm talking like the one I had during haunt last year. Started because mixture of fog machine and lady bathing herself in floral perfume walking by. Went outside. Drank water. Used inhaler. Opened up my airways as much as I could. Wasn't working. Stumbled into my breakroom with my cup of water (and by cup of water I mean a 32 oz cup of water with nothing but water in it and a straw so I could drink it with a lid on and not spill all over myself). Continued drinking water on the way. Told supervisor I needed to be sent to first aid in between my gaspings for breath. She had no idea what to do and started panicking. So in addition to not being able to breathe and my chest feeling like it was on fire and being crushed simultaneously, I then go into panic mode. Which intensifies my inability to breathe. And then sent me into crying mode which, if you are having trouble breathing and start crying hard (you know the gasping sobs kind of crying) hurts like hell and probably isn't the best.
-I've gotten cut and started bleeding without realising it and looked at it after someone else has pointed it out and just shrugged and said "and?"
-Yesterday I somehow managed to cut myself multiple times grating cheese without realising it. Luckily did not bleed on cheese. I checked. After I got the bandaid.
-I got burned on my neck on New Years one year by a very hot dry pan. Didn't hurt. Felt warmth but no pain. Shrugged it off. One of the boys in the kitchen asked about my "hickey". I flipped and went "what? what hickey are you talking about?" and ran into the bathroom(since I wasn't doing anything anyway that couldn't be done in a few cause it was just cleaning before I needed to be cleaning) saw it in the mirror(the burn that is) and screamed out the word fuck as loud as I could, took a deep breath, and calmly walked back into the kitchen told the boys it was a burn not a hickey and calmly went back to work. I was 22.
-I've gotten bacon grease burns on my arms. I calmly looked at it, went and ran cool-ish water over it to get the grease off and gone back to work. I was 22/23.
-I've gotten multiple dry heat burns from pans and oven doors and thought nothing twice of them other than "ouch that's hot". I was 22/23.
-A week and a half ago my left knee started going out(my right knee is already really bad and as such I can't walk up stairs well nor can I always stand for extended periods of time from an old work injury). It got bad enough that I was practically crying no matter what position my leg was in as I was alternating ice packs and heat packs on it to help it. To date, that is the worst pain of my life.
-I have split my left knee open before. I was running around before a photo day for girl scouts with the rest of my troop. I jumped off a set of 3 concrete steps and landed on my knee. I cried. I was between the ages of 10 and 15.
-I flipped over the handlebars of my bike(or at least that's what we think happened as this was before helmet laws were seriously enforced or even taken seriously and we also think I had a minor concussion from it) and tore up my face. I calmly walked into my house and told my mom my face hurt. She flipped out and asked what was wrong with my face. Confused, I apparently touched my face and saw the blood on my hands and started freaking out(according to her). That was when I was somewhere between 7 and 10 years old.
-I have sliced off a bit of skin on an open pocket knife in my own pocket(coincidentally my own knife) on my right hand and all I did was slightly wince and then mentally call myself an idiot. And calmly cleaned my hand off and stopped the bleeding. I was 22.

Different people deal with different types of pain differently. There is no real unusual reaction. If you're looking for someone to tell you there is a definite right and wrong way to react to pain then you're going to be sadly disappointed as there is no definite right or wrong way. We all process it in our own ways. So for you, it might be completely normal.

I have a tendency to sharply inhale if I suddenly experience a sharp pain. I can't see myself hyperventilating from it, but I do have a similar reflex. Generally the more painful something is, the less noise I initially make. I might yell "ow!" if I bump into something and get bruised, but major bleeding wounds get more of a grunt out of me, if anything other than a shell shocked realization that I need to go get the first aid kit, right now.

Generally? I tend to take it, make a grunt, noise/etc. depending on the severity of the pain, then search for the source to get revenge. Pain generally makes me angry, but I can usually focus said anger... which makes sports fun.

tl;dr: ow! punch.

I swear and shake my fist at the object of my torment, secretly plotting ways to revenge myself upon it. But mostly swear.

Goodness, I'm so careful to avoid pain I can barely remember how I react.
I think it's something along the line of shrieking/grunting/audible I've-been-hurt something-or-other followed my immediate clutching of hurt area in such a way that it doesn't increase the pain but somewhat nullifies it a small degree.

Having been born with Rheumatoid Arthritis and developing Osteoarthritis within the last two years has actually really helped me with how I handle pain. It went from being just in my left knee to being in both knees, both feet, two fingers, both my elbows, and the left side of my jaw.

I have noticed that because of it that I handle pain much better than most people but there are some days where my pain can get to really severe levels.

Sounds like Shinji from Evangelion. Well, the manga version anyway.

I just usually curse a lot, sometimes will whack whatever caused my injury to begin with. (So long as it's not another living thing.)

Hyperventilation as a response to pain (or stress/panic in general) is pretty typical in humans and animals. Faster, non-relaxed or more laborious respiration as opposed to your normal slow in/out. Not specific and varies from person to person, but typical. The "wanting to black out" part isn't 0-0. Never heard about that one from anyone else unless it's an undesired, accidental side effect (like in a panic attack).

Personally I don't do much special. I tend to be a bit more stoic for certain pains and have a decent pain tolerance depending on where the pain is and it's type.

Visceral pain like for periods and such I tend to not show anything other than sweating, facial redness, and a desire to not do anything. I've gone through 10 hour shifts at work with no pain meds (well, they don't work well for me anyways) and no one would tell that I was in great pain. I may also have some kind of pancreatitis too since some fatty foods (usually relating to ranch dressing, but not consistent with all fatty foods) cause me to have deep pain, so if I'm at a dinner party and I feel ill, it'll be a similar kind of reaction.

In gym I got hurt a lot, mostly with finger sprains in basketball. Usually ball would jam the finger and I would yell "FUCK" and slink off to a corner. Especially in my basketball class (which was co-ed with about 15 guys and 5 girls) so I wanted to at least try to not stand out to the manly-men. Other than that (for things like stubbing my toe), I would have a disgustingly feminine "ARGH *gasp*" sound with or without cursing.

In games, my reaction to being hit is usually to garble some jibberish noises, kind of like in a cartoon. Just thought I would mention that since I think it's strange at least.

No reaction unless it's a dangerous level of pain. I maintain my stoic face most of the time. Hell when I fell off my bike on a slope and later lost the adrenaline, I was just waving around for a ride to the clinic. Lousy tree branches trying to get back at humans one at a time.

I am horribly bad at handling pinching because I really hate the bruises it leaves behind(when your "friend" is a crazy pincher) I usually just react purposefully to give them their sadistic pleasure and come out unscathed.

I either laugh or a constant stream of expletives accompanied with growls.

I haven't had any serious pain since I split my knee open but I went into shock real early so my reaction was... nothing? I didn't even notice until I felt a trickle of blood on my foot. Upon doing so I got a friend to take me to a local Accident & Emergency clinic.

May sound evil but i smile or laugh off pain .... always helps .. no idea why. But generally people tend to freak out when you've got an epic injury and you're laughing like you're lex luther and you just got a "kill superman instantly" button

Inhale (perhaps help with blood flow and release of adrenaline? i got no idea) and then thats about it. I dont scream, i never scream. i dont cry because of pain or anything like that. In fact i can continue diung stuff though pain (like picking up a hot object) and still remain in control even though instinch would ahve you evade. it takes effort of course but yeah thats not very usual.
Then again i cosnidere pain to be just a message signal that once aknowledged should be ignored.

I tend to get angry and swear a lot.

I did pass out once, but that was when I was running and twisted my ankle so badly the muscles actually made an audible `Pop` sound, and I thought I`d broken it.

Looking back though my best reaction was when my neighbours let their big lab run free and it went straight after my cat, who was in my yard with me. I held my cat over my head so the dog couldn`t reach it (odd reaction, I know, it`s just what I did) and my cat tried to escape through my face.

My family heard the dog barking, as did my neighbours. Everyone came to look.

My cat had torn my face apart, I was bleeding so badly everyone started screaming. I calmly handed the cat to my sister and cupped my hands under my face to catch all the blood because I didn`t want it staining the deck.

Everyone thought I`d been blinded. My cat carved up my eyes. Not my eyeballs, he missed them by millimeters. Literally millimeters.

I was fine until my mom and the neighbour started cleaning my face up and insisting I go to the hospital right away for plastic surgery. When I heard those words I freaked out a bit and stopped breathing.

Turns out I was fine, my face isn`t mangled, you have to look very close for the scars. But now when I think back to that and my reaction of not wanting to get blood all over the deck I giggle.

My usual reaction to pain is just to swear, which on it's own isn't that unusual, except I grind my teeth at night and sometimes I'll bite my tongue hard enough to make it bleed (as the tongue gets trapped and cut up in the gaps where I've had teeth removed) which makes me wake up in an instant, but before my mind has woken up.

This has cause me to utter some hilarious and creative variations of the words "****", "Shit", "Gay", "Bastard" and "Fuck" that could only be conjured up by the subconscious, dreaming mind, as I'm rudely torn into consciousness with a sudden sharp pain and bleeding tongue.

I'll be soundly and peacefully asleep one moment, then suddenly sit bolt upright with a cry of something bizarre like "Cuntylicious Fuckwranglers!" or "Shitbastard Gaynor Jr!". It's hard to remember the exact curses I utter as I usually go back to sleep straight after, but sometimes a particularly creative invention will resurface in my mind, later in the day.

I'd imagine this would seem very strange to an observer, who could be forgiven for thinking I suffer from night-Tourettes, but no, I just bit my tongue.

That's not an unusual response. Now, if it gave you a massive erection and an almost uncontrolable impulse to do something with your legs then you'd have problems.

Sorry if it seems like I abandoned the thread, folks. I don't post topics here much, so I forget that I did and then I'm all "what? I have replies?"

I don't think it sounds evil. By the way, people also freak out when you DON'T freak out or don't respond. I fell on a rock once, and apparently the way my back impacted looked REALLY bad or something, because while I was all "why am I looking up all of a sudden?" everyone else was like "OMG! OMG! ARE YOU HURT?"

I wasn't. I mean, I was kinda confused for a few seconds, but I didn't injure my back or suffer any sort of head injury that caused it. It was more "lolwhat?" Than "I haz booboo!"

Actually, I have quite a few "looks bad, but wasn't" instances where people freaked out hardcore.

I think that hits EVERYONE's curse button. the current back problems I have (not related to the previous fall) cause some numbness down my leg and foot, and I STILL curse when I stub my toe. I think it's ingrained.
