Is this at all acceptable?

Grrrrr... I'll leave this here:

What your grandfather did was very intrusive and in no way acceptable, whether you should wash your hair or not is completely irrelevant - what you do with your body should always be your choice (with obvious exceptions when your choices physically or mentally harm other people). Your grandfather has no right to force his choices on you, regardless of his (I presume) good intentions. When people force other people for the sake of "what's good for them" it is rarely that it really is good for them. There was a multitude of ways on his side to resolve the situation without resorting to violence (and make no mistake - it is violence).

Bottom line is this - people should be allowed to make their own mistakes, if we can never choose to make mistakes then choice is illusionary and if that's true life instantly loses all meaning, because then we aren't living, we're reacting.

My god if it bothers your grandpa that much then it just might be a problem and for the sake of just being polite use head and shoulders, I use it everyday. "But chiggerwood!" you shout "I don't see a solitary flake in that glorious and beautiful mane of hair of yours that makes lions envious and women weak at the knees. It's perfect and glorious in every way and I wish to dry hump it until I shatter my hips." And to you I reply with a lowering of my hypnotizing eyes and a charming grin "exactly" BUT seriously take care of the problem dandruff can be a tad disgusting when it gets out of control.

I'm assuming your grandpa owns the house, so I'm going to go with the "if it bothers your grandpa to the point that he takes action, just get the dandruff problem sorted out" answer.

Personally, I recommend a tea tree shampoo. This is the kind I use [http://www.avalonorganics.com/?id=88&pid=30]. It does its job, and I prefer it to Head and Shoulders. But whatever floats your boat, I guess.

Oh God someone is forcing hygiene on you! What a fascist!

Seriously, OP, you are gross and apparently proud of how gross you are. If it has gotten to the point where you're so disgusting that someone else is FORCED to take it upon themselves to bathe you...seriously.

It doesn't even have to be head and shoulders, most shampoo's have progressed far enough since the 70's that they all pretty much deal with dandruff. WASH you Human embarrassment.

Just wash your fucking hair man. Jesus.
I second this, I wouldn't word it as harsh, but I still agree. Anyway if you take showers regularly (which I hope you do) then just switch to head and shoulders. It doesn't smell bad adn you'll be clean while your grandpa is happy. But I do agree that your grandpa comes into your room at night. Just tell him that if he buys you head & shoulders that you'll wash your hair with it. SIMPLE. No need to make a thread saying that being clean is taking away your freedom and social liberty.

No, that's really creepy. Your grandfather should not have done that.

However, you should have done something about your dandruff, especially if it was bothering your grandpa that much.

No offense, but you and and your grandfather should both show more respect for each other.

Dude. Wash your damn hair. That's fucking gross. Yeah, it happens from time to time, but you know how to fix it? You just wash your hair again. No one wants a shit ton of dead scalp floating about.

yes, it is creepy.

the fact that you acknowledge you have dandruff but are doing nothing to get rid of it is weird as well.
just because it doesn't bother you doesn't mean you should just keep it. the possible benefits of getting rid of it (relations of the intimate kind) outweigh any possible annoyances of having to get rid of it. if you live in the US, Head and Shoulders is a great shampoo. i bought it when i had dandruff, and i've stuck with it because it's great stuff.

A, pretty much. On bad days (I mean a thousand things go wrong and I am incapable of even touching my head to clean it) it approaches B in terms of severity.

This thread is silly on so many levels ( Q Monty Python reference)
while your grand dad is a bit odd it's messed up that he needs to in the first place, just wash your bloody hair, not difficult. It's just kinda creepy not to treat dandruff.

I'm appalled that the bulk of the replies have been "yeah your grandfather is wrong, but you should do something about your dandruff".

If the OP had long hair that bothered his grandfather, and the grandfather crept in and cut it off during the night, would you all say "yeah that was wrong, but you should have cut your hair". Or if the OP had a favourite t-shirt that the grandfather didn't like, and he threw it away while the OP slept, would you all say "yeah that was wrong, but you should have got rid of the t-shirt already".

I'm not saying whether it's right or wrong of the OP to retain his dandruff (I have a mild case and damn right I use anti-dandruff shampoo), but if he's okay with it then that's good enough for me.
