Why don't you just get you Granddad to buy you the Shampoo and then you use it? Seriously it doesn't take long at all, just do it when you normally go for a shower...atleast i hope you actually shower.

That is pretty weird. Not gonna' lie. You need to sort your dandruff though, if the dead skin littering your scalp isn't bothering you, the grandfather raping your scalp with anti-dandruff shampoo surely must... Well... There's some incentive for you.

So to make a long story short, I have dandruff. This dandruff bothers my grandfather (Who I live with). I don't want to use any shampoo for it since it, quite honestly, doesn't bother me in the least. So he's taken it upon himself to actually put some drops on my head to get rid of it. The problem? I'm asleep when he does it.

SO it's a pretty straightforward question. Is this acceptable?
.....really? You can't be bothered to maintain your own hygiene? Your grandfather is doing you a favor by ignoring(what I can only assume) is a baseless reason why you refuse to maintain your appearance. smh at your actions.

That's a tad over excessive and quite unacceptable, putting drops on your head whilst your asleep is just weird and creepy. But yeah you might want to use Head and Shoulders or some form of anti-dandruff shampoo and conditioner.

It's kind of creepy, but I don't think you can do anything about it. It's not like you can tell off a grandpa.

Actually there is something he could do about it.....he could wash his hair?

I'm appalled that the bulk of the replies have been "yeah your grandfather is wrong, but you should do something about your dandruff".

If the OP had long hair that bothered his grandfather, and the grandfather crept in and cut it off during the night, would you all say "yeah that was wrong, but you should have cut your hair". Or if the OP had a favourite t-shirt that the grandfather didn't like, and he threw it away while the OP slept, would you all say "yeah that was wrong, but you should have got rid of the t-shirt already".

I'm not saying whether it's right or wrong of the OP to retain his dandruff (I have a mild case and damn right I use anti-dandruff shampoo), but if he's okay with it then that's good enough for me.
A personal choice in appearance and flaking all over someone's house... =/=

I'm appalled you compared the two.
My point wasn't the specifics of my examples, but that the grandfather in question has taken it upon himself to sneakily alter something about the OP's 'personal choice in appearance' and the posters in this thread implicitly endorsed it.

And 'flaking all over someone's house...'? Hyperbole much? We have no indication of the severity of the OP's scalp condition and a lot of people are acting like there's snow drifts all over the lounge room. Until provided with extra details, I'm going with 'meddling old man trying to control grandson's appearance'.

Thanks for keeping the stereotype alive!
This and, my take on it. If i'm paying for you to live there, you follow what little rules I ask or you can GTFO. Personal Hygiene is one. If I ever had a roommate that flaked dandruff all over the couch and other places, they'd get asked to fix it. Even if I had to provide the shampoo. I'd help them in whatever way possible, but if they had the attitude you did about it, i'd give them a week to pack up and find another place to live. It's disgusting. Stop thinking about yourself for one second and start thinking about how your nasty flaky hair and/or bad personal hygiene effects others around you.

I'd like to add to this, after reading comments from people who think this is violence and/or assault. Question OP. How old are you??

What difference does it make you say?

Well, if you are in america, a big difference. Because unless you are married, legally emancipated, or emancipated by parenthood, it's the legal guardian's responsibility to take care of you with or without your permission until you turn 18.

So if you aren't 18, shut up and use the shampoo. If you are 18, move the fuck out and get your own place if you want to make the rules.

That's pretty creepy, although you lost my sympathy when you said that you refused to use shampoo that would fix the problem.

While he certainly can't just mess with your body without your consent, your hygiene is something that can affect other people as well, especially when you're living with them. You should consider that when you talk with him about it.
Is there any specific reason why you don't want to use anti-dandruff shampoo? I have dandruff myself and it gets pretty nasty if I don't do anything against it.

I would say no, since he doesn't have your permission to do so. At the same time, if he has a legitimate health concern over it and you have to live with him, you should probably take care of it. Even if this isn't a health problem for him, you really ought to just respect his wishes and get a medicated shampoo.

It isn't hard, there are plenty of them out there.

I almost want to say this is one giant troll. Almost.

But I have a little more faith in humanity than that, so I am going with my alternate theory. What if the OP does not actually have this issue, but instead came up with this hypothetical scenario to read people's reactions? OR... What if the OP is actually the grandfather and is trying to see if it would be okay to go rape his grandson's hair with shampoo?

Now for a more on-topic response...

Personal hygiene is just that. It is PERSONAL. Ultimately, you choose how clean you wish to be, and no one else can choose that for you. Your grandfather is not in the right, here. He can, by no ethical means, determine your level of hygiene for you.
Now, assuming you are under 18 and he has legal guardianship of you, then he can hand out punishment after punishment until you bend to his will and clean yourself (he could even take away your internets!). If you ARE 18 (or are legally emancipated), then he can simply throw you out because it IS his house, not yours.

Take, for example, this scenario: I have a co-worker who never wears deodorant and always smells terrible. My boss told him that he needs to start wearing deodorant as his smell is offensive. In this situation, my boss cannot put deodorant in my co-worker's armpits. However, if my co-worker refuses to comply, it constitutes a violation of company policy and he can be fired. Simple as that.

So I hold no sympathy for you. If it as simple as using a better shampoo and showering every day, then I suggest you grow up. Welcome to the real world.
Of course, if it is worse than that, then seek professional advice. I absolutely understand that Head and Shoulders might not do the job for you, but... You should at least be making an effort to be clean (if not for your sake, then for the sanity of those around you!)

Dude just wash your hair. Have some personal hygeine, it's not that hard.

I'd normally call what he was doing creepy and werid, which to a point it is. But Jesus, if he's willing to sneak into your room and put shampoo on there while your asleep how fucking bad is your dandruff problem?
