So I'm playing oblivion as a marksman character and I keep running out of arrows mid dungeon despite bringing 200 plus. So I bring up the console and restock with arrows of my own level. Glass currently. I have loads of gold so its not like I couldnt go out of the dungeon and get some I'm just sick of running back and forth.

Is that really bad cheating :S Do you think I should stop it. Have you ever done anything similar in a game? What do you think?

Edit: Thanks for all your replies :) I do play a stealth character and get 2 or 3 shot kill so I have no idea why I run out so blimmin fast.

I think I'm going to stop it and just try to take more arrows with me as I don't really like to be considered a cheater, I got to level 23 without doing that so im sure ill manage.

Well it's still cheating if you got them without having to leave the dungeon
sooo spend all that gold you say you have on arrows or get better in blade/blunt/ magic

if i have the money to buy something, but i steal it instead is that robbing, hell yeah. look at it this way, you can pick up the arrows or you can get them back no question ask and keep playing without losing a bit of fun.

Not at all

No, not at all

Yes

In Neverwinter Nights 2 I used the debug console to put all of my stats to 40, gave myself 10 million gold coins, +5 Armor, a +5 enchanted weapon, and tons of magical scrolls.

What you do dwarfs in comparision.

But no one loss anything in the OPs way. So it is really robbery?

well yeah, it's cheating, but cheating in a single player game is excusable to get around design flaws

in fact, cheating in a single player is ALWAYS excusable, since you don't hurt anyone >_>

Well I'm kind of planning to level my magic as my marksman is maxed now. I just seem to get into the zone and I run out of arrows and its depressing. :<

In fallout 3, in most of my playthroughs, i would give myself 10,000 bottlecaps, 10000 rounds of .44 ammo, and the Lincoln Repeater (by far my favorite gun in the game) at the beginning. And I would up by science, lockpicking, speech, and repair up to 100 at the beginning (Science and lockpicking to get by locks and computers, speech so that I dont miss dialogue options, and repair so that I could keep my Lincoln Repeater at the best condition possible all the time.)

Yes, it's considered cheating, but since Oblivion isn't really a multiplayer game, who cares?

I mean, it's like, who cares if you cheat at Solitaire? The only person you're cheating is yourself, really.

Thats because the Lincoln repeater was a gift from Christ himself.

OP: Its cheating but its a Bethesda open world RPG so your still good.

I think that something like this is OK if the game is not multiplayer, and I wouldn't feel bad doing it if it's as obnoxious as that sounds (and I had the money for it, I'd probably give myself the number that I could afford in the gold and then drop the gold).

Whatever, just wash your hands.
really the bows are stupid ineffective in oblivion, I dled a mod that make the bows more powerful but not broken, just no more having to shoot a wolf 20 times, make it much more enjoyable

Sadly, Arrows are a ***** in oblivion, Litterly I will spend 2 mintues aimming carefully at a target to start combat so I don't waste more arrows then nesscary. So I would say no... You could come up with an RP reason...

If you have to think about it more than twice, it's usually cheating.

That being said, if you're having fun in a single player game, does it really matter?

I mean, it is totally cheating. But as stated earlier, your cheating against a computer, so they rarely care.

actually it was a gift from the New Haven Arms Company in hopes that it would influence the purchase of the rifles for use in the Civil War

*snorts and pushes up glasses*

Maybe I should stop the arrow thing then I feel kind of bad now.

Honestly if you arent using the console in a Bethesda RPG then you are missing half the fun. Your missing the other half the fun if you arent using mods.
