I don't think anyone can play video games as much as he has and still be a noob, maybe a noob of a neglected genre or game, but not an overall noob.

Newb = new player
Noob = ignorant player, somebody who blames others/the game for their lack of skill and/or uses game tactics that others frown upon, i.e., noobtubing.
Exactly. He's also stated several times people don't like it when he's being too nice.marioman360 said:Yahtzee isn't a noob, he's a critic. It is quite literally his job to pick apart games and be extremely negative.
I was wondering if someone was going to bring this point up.Daystar Clarion said:I don't think you're in a position to be judging anyone's gaming ability if you've never seen them play.

Stands for Multi Player, most commonly it refers to online Multi Player but sometimes it refers to the local Multi Player wich often is called Co-op mode.dfcrackhead said:I gotta ask: MP?

Demon's Souls and Dark Souls most certainly do not require you to master them by any extent.FaceFaceFace said:Come on, Demon's/Dark Souls fans, you know, and have always known, that the games are niche. Most human beings don't have the time or patience to play such a demanding game. It is complex, and, while fair, absolutely requires that you absolutely master it, and most people want video games to be less of a job. Yahtzee's not a noob for thinking Demon's Souls was too hard, he's an ordinary gamer.
I dont agree with alot of this.Carnagath said:Here are some reasons:Mrmac23 said:The reason he hated Demon's Souls is because it was too hard. I don't mean "challenging" "fun" hard, i mean "ball-crushingly" hard. And from what i've heard, Dark Souls actively goes out of it's way to destroy your self worth and piss on you. I think i'm asking the same question as he would when i ask how the fuck anyone likes this sort of game. The reason I Wanna Be The Guy was so popular was because it was taking the piss out of difficulty by making everything nonsensically insane. Dark Souls is I Wanna Be The Guy when trying to take itself seriously. Read: annoying as shit.
1) Survival horror approach. Demon's/Dark Souls are the only true survival horror games of the last 5 years.
2) Unmatched atmosphere. No grimdark bullshit, but actual atmosphere that draws the players in and affects their own mood significantly even after they turn off the game.
3) Amazing level design. Like, seriously, once you finish any world, if you sit down and think of what you've just been through your brain hurts.
4) Great combat system and weapon physics. You know how in action RPG's you click and shit dies? Yeah, that's not what you do in DS. You have to outsmart and outmanouever every single enemy and pick the proper places and ways to fight.
5) The game is never unfair and the controls feel satisfying. You die because you fuck up, and you know you fucked up before you die.
6) Overcoming a challenge is fun, if you are patient and careful. We've forgotten all about that in recent years.
7) Cool unique online features that benefit and complete but never undermine the single player experience, which is the core of the game.
I can agree with this.Darkbladex96 said:5) Mostly true, although thier are times when enemy weapons fly straight through solid objects and can hit you through walls and pillars(not the enemies who can break shit down, just regular dudes), the the characters hitbox appears to extend under you. Been hit a million times by horizontal slashes under my feet when standing on a stump or up stairs.
7)Online mode causes control input lag.......in dark souls this is not acceptable.
I think you mean Demon's Souls. Nobody knows if he's even played Dark Souls yet. People are HOPING he will though, but fear he wont after his reaction to Demon's Souls. (That said, some people have made assumptions that he probably won't get very far in Dark Souls either, but there's no proof of that outside of his reaction to Demon's Souls.)Scrustle said:Also, how the hell do you know how far he got in Dark Souls? Did he personally tell you?
I don't agree with him on many things, but this is one thing I do: "If a game feels like work, it isn't looking at a good write-up" (in my case isn't going to be finished).Nomanslander said:Right now I'm at Nito which is pretty far in Dark Souls, I ain't a gaming God, but I'm pretty sure Yahtzee couldn't even get that far (Capra Demon is far as he'd get I bet).
God dammit. It's an admittedly overly cynical opinion taken for laughs, and all reviews are opinions. Stop using "objectively" in place of "agreeing with me". Never has a word had to suffer such shameful misuse since "ironic". You've also misused noob, but the second post has already called you out on that. And as for not liking multiplayer, I loathe games which charge a full price for a crap single player as an entry fee to multiplayer. That said, I do enjoy me some TF2. And that whole "doesn't mention gameplay" bit. Have you watched his videos? He's admitted the rule is, "if I don't mention it, it's probably done well." See above at the "overly cynical" part. Every game has competent gameplay (with notable exceptions). Barely any games have competent writing or atmosphere. I'll let you combine those two on your own.Nomanslander said:objectively
