All I have to say is: Lol.

I've had some crappy english teachers (I think one came to school high once), but this one takes the cake.

not cool. Its not like the girl made her self have a seizure for the lols. she probably couldn't help it.

At my school, there is this fat sweaty guy who is the PE teacher for both girls and boys. last year he made the 8th grade girls dance for him in the back of his classroom. He got fired but my school is so frickin cheap they re-hired him and gave him his job as teacher again.

And even nastier, he makes us run extra laps so we get all sweaty. then he stares at us. Its weird.
My school had an SRO (student resource officer) who got caught drinking with underage girls, but gets away clean.
Meanwhile, I had this awesome American Government/Economics teacher, who kissed a girl on the top of her head, because she was crying over her recently deceased father, and he was thrown out by the end of the week.

yea... I can tell this didn't happen--or at least not quite as you're describing--because she would have been fired for this. Like, immediately.

You Guys are either are from somewhere outside of the USA or just poorly informed, but nothing ever happens to teachers when it comes to dealing with students. Hell, I remember hearing an NPR report about teachers who have been legally deemed guilty by the court of law for sexually harassing students, and the teachers punishment is this paid probationary period where the teacher sits in a "rubber room" and files papers all day while getting paid.
I'm fairly well informed (my mums a teacher and I used to help her out at her college) but I am outside the USA, UK in fact.
Oh, ok then, you are from a nation that actually ranks education as a top priority and not a tax burden. That makes much more sense now

Do you have any proof that says the USA does not pay top priority to education? Don't get me wrong, the priorities in the schools themselves might be a bit stupid, but America is pretty big with the whole 'school to get a good job' thing, you know.

Something similar happened at my school. The teacher thought it was another 'childish gag' until the poor kid started foaming at the mouth. Then she got the nurse.

OT: Well she's an idiot. Hopefully she'll get transferred.

well to a certain extent, but its hard to believe that schools are a top priority when it feels like the school boards are run by the guys from 3D Realms

It depends on the location of the schools. Places like Washington D.C. probably are a lot better funded than, say, Alabama. I believe school education is also just as much the state's responsibility as it is the entire USA's, in terms of how much funding they want.

well to be fair, it IS the states responsibility. I'm from Texas, so my view is pretty much a bias from there

I'm from Texas too. Harlingen, to be exact.
Maybe its just a district by district thing is. I mean c'mon, I finished high school without ever having to think or try. That to me is a problem.

She should at least get reprimanded. If the kids parents pursue the matter she could lose her job and it could even end up in court.

I'd say she thought the kid was faking it after having a student fake a seizure to get out of class. There must be more to the story

um... seizure... and... Your school will most likely have one less teacher and maybe even a few less classes to offer. maybe even lose the band. Civil suits are funny like that.

I don't think the OP is telling the whole story. There is bound to be more to the story.
