Recently, a freshman student got shot at a local store, there not sure if he'll survive and even if he does he'll probably be paralyzed by the waist-down for the rest of his life.

The worst part is the fact that the guy who shot the student was 5 YEARS OLD.

Apparently the kid found a loaded 9mm pistol in his house, went outside and fired off a random round, right into the back of the poor student. Who the hell leaves a loaded gun in the house with a 7 year old!? And just where were the parents?

What do you think about this?

Whoa. . .whoa. . whoa. . . WHAT?!

I hope that kid and his parents go down for a long time. I understand that you yanks are more relaxed on gun control but this is pathetic.

Sounds like an unfortunte accident. One that could
have been avoided if the owner of the weapon had a semblence of responsebility (no spell check sorry).

This is the sort of reason that I'm in favor of requiring people to have licenses to own firearms. You should not be allowed to have such a dangerous weapon unless you've had safety training for it.

I think that the child will most likely be taken away from his parents and face juvenile detention if the parents of the freshman press charges. Most likely they will.

Fox will say the kid played violent video games and thought "what fun!" and politicians will follow through saying their usual bullcrap.

This is - of course - if the event in question actually happened.

I think the kid was in the wrong place at the wrong time and that parents are proably gonna get chewed out by the parents of that freshmen.

Honestly, it makes me wonder what the hell the parents were thinking when they not only loaded the gun, but left it out where the child could easily get it.

I don't think the child should be punished. And this isn't a gun control issue. It's a normal handgun that whoever owned it was so mentally deffecient, so unbelievably dense, that they reasoned "Hey, Ill leave my fully loaded handgun in teach of a child." Itball goes down to people being fucking morons. The parents should be punished severaly, maybe even for manslaughter. But it's a seven year old child. He or she probably don't even realize what they did. What are they gonna do? Send a 7 year old to prison?

That's why I'm glad I live in the UK, where it's illegal to own anything other than a bolt-action hunting rifle

When I was little there was loaded guns in the house, but my dad taught me things like GUN SAFETY, and the fact that they can KILL PEOPLE.

This reminds me of how many people who defend the right to own guns ironically like to scapegoat video games for their violent child woes.

The rules apply: "Guns/video games don't kill people, bad parenting does."

That kid's parents should know not to keep a loaded weapon where a kid could find it, or better yet, not to keep the weapon loaded. When you have a little kid you have to keep that shit locked up and away from where it can be found. It's a damn tragedy.

Do you have a link to this?

I see a child.
he looks pretty young.
I didn't expect to be shot
by him holding a gun.

And I say to myself.... what a wonderful... world!

The kid is going to have to grow up knowing he did this, which might be enough punishment.

That's just plain disgusting. It's irresponsible enough to keep a loaded gun in the house when you have children, but to be neglectful enough to leave it in their reach is just wrong.
