What would you like to see less of in games? (not what games do you want less of).
Here are mine, pretty obvious ones really.
1. Quicktime events.
Nothing takes me more out of the experience. There's no choice, control, decisions, sense of accomplishment, I cant' even enjoy the cool cutscene...I'm looking out for the next button prompt so I don't have to do it all again.
2. Button mashing
I want to open the door, I'm at the door, I pressed the button to open the door. How does having to mash a button repeatedly meant to add to the experience. Fair enough if it's in the heat of combat finishing off a super fast combo....but not just to open mundane objects...I'm not here to build up thumb endurance. (..yes I've been playing gow...)
3. (completely) Regenerating health
It has it's good points. No need for health packs, no being stuck with one hp with no options. But the type when it's "ten second breather, all better" does two things for me.
It devalues your life/sense of preservation...(doesn't matter if I get shot chucking a couple of grenades, I'll just lie down again and be back to normal). It decreases tension in the game and slows combat down. Middle of a fight...oh, I'll just take a little breather. That's one aspect that made space marine so refreshing compared to gears, if you were low on health you had to charge forwards and perform an execution kill to regain it.
