On the one hand, it's sad that as shitty as Vista is that it had such a short run. Seriously, with the price of an OS these days and the trouble with getting everything compatible, I'd have pegged Vista for at least another two years.

On the other hand...
BOOYA NO MORE FUCKING VISTA!
I quite like vist though...
yeah, same here, I haven't had any problems with it at all, I must be lucky though considering all the whining that has been going on about it.

It's simple really. Last generation we got Window's Millennium Edition. It was buggy, glitchy, expensive, and all around "shitty". Then, shortly after, came XP. It was built on the same architecture, but lacked many of ME's flaws. Fast forward to today. Microsoft gave us Vista. A rushed, REALLY buggy, incompatible piece of code that amounted to nothing more than complete garbage. Suddenly, a short time later, we're being offered Windows 7. Built, unsurprisingly, on the same exact architecture as Vista but, ta dah, without all of Vista's flaws.

Vista = Windows ME
7 = XP

They've been doing this for years. They design a new OS. They rush a pre-build out the door and market it as their next major OS. People buy it up, paying way too much. Soon after, people start to realize how bad a piece of code it is. Then, after spending all of that extra time on development, MS gives us their so called "next" OS, which is nothing more than a fixed version of their previous. I've known about Windows 7 going on a year and a half now. One of many reasons I've not given in to the Vista machine. God I wish there was a better version of Linux out there that could easily rival Windows and OSX 10.

I don't really care how much HDD space a OS uses, as long as the OS is good and does the job. If Windows7 used 50gig though was bugless and had full backwards compatibility I would get it, without a doubt. Applications are using more and more bytes as they improve so why does that mean a operating system should be any different.

Fixed.

Agreed. In fact, I don't even like the user interface of Windows Vista, and would go as far as to say that I prefer the looks of Fluxbox, a stripped-out X environment with no icons and a menu system reminding one of twm. Yeah, I went there.
Ha, TWM. I love that vicious, gangly nonsense, but only because I get off to wonky, un-user-friendly computer anythings from the age before the norms were allowed in the playroom. I'm too young to have really enjoyed the NERDS ONLY Age, but I love tooling around / reading about / confusing people by talking about all that old stuff. Makes me feel like a big man.

A big man, who wastes a lot of time with old software and redundant software configs. Whoo-hoo.

Vista...sucks. After using a Windows XP computer for so long, I can't find everything, it demands more juice to be sucked from the computer, and it generally just sucks. I mean, you have to search "Folder Options" under the Start menu, rather than just having a bar IN a folder.

So yeah, sad to see a OS fail so quick, but on another hand: YYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
When in a folder, press the alt key, then go to tools, folder options, then...wait, that's it. Pretty simple, and only two more steps than XP.

Hah! I never got Vista! In your face, little brother!

My XP works fine, so I really didn't see any need for Vista anyhu. Why do people hate it so much, anyway?

On the other hand, is Apple any better? Cause if they don't obsolete everything like this, then perhaps I'd get it, if it was made for games. OR! If they did obsolete it, but gave it out for free. Somehow, I don't think that's true.

Forgive my ignorance, but exactly why do you have to get into folder options every 10 seconds, where it would be inconvenient for you to do that quick little maneuver to get into it?

A way to make it even EASIER, is to go into folder options, click the view tab, and check the box that says Always Show Menus, then that's one less step for you to do. OR you could download AutoHotKey and simply assign Folder Options to a shortcut key, and then you would be able to get into folder options as fast as your fingers can go to the key. I suggest spacebar if you need it that fast, because it is the closest key to you, and the biggest, making it hard to miss in your frenzied rush to get to the folder options.

Apparently vista will be supported for like 2 more years, and XP is going to be supported for like another 5 or 6.

So basically, yes from what I know.
Oh. Fuck. Me. DEAD!

XP IS DONE. IT IS HISTORY. IT SHOULD GO THE WAY OF 2000.

Vista is not perfect. But you know what? It at least implements something like kernel-space protection.

And does horrible backwards compatibility.
