In retrospect, I should have realized attempting to get people to see that rabid fanboy defense of a game for it's platform was stupid would result in precisely the sort of "pissing contest" I abhor. Regret even attempting to create a conversational thread, all the elitism that infests gaming has reared it's ugly head.

The only thing I agree with is that it is unfortunate inFamous is PS3 exclusive, just because it limits availability to people who don't have the console, which is probably the reason there is so much console hate being spewed from a few orifices. Still, it's unfortunate, not something worth all the hate-mongering.

But again, this is my own damn fault. Stupid, stupid brain. I think I'll stick to the webcomic reviews from now on...

I agree to some extent, especially due to the rather bothersome fact that an astounding amount of the arguments for prototype boil down to "The PS3 and/or system exclusives suck!"

However, I believe that the comparisons/competitions do serve a purpose. Well educated comparisons that actually note specifics regarding gameplay, graphics, ect. can be invaluable in choosing which game to buy. I was personally torn between purchasing either inFAMOUS or PROTOTYPE, and both garnered my interest, so reading the more well-informed arguments helped me make up my mind.

(BTW: I chose inFAMOUS, And I love it)

2)Infamous has received better reviews. Mixed with above point and you get a lot of bitchy fanboys for the 360 who suddenly realise their idea that they have more/better exclusives no longer flies.

One exclusive doesn't change the fact that both systems have good exclusives. If you really think inFamous changes that, then your more fanboy than you know.

More the fact the 360 is loosing it's exclusives very quickly (Fallout DLC), leaving it with few exclusives of quality.
360 fanboys don't like how things look now, as the PS3 is coming out on top. Again backed up with the fact PC owners don't care about Infamous VS prototype.

actually 360 owners are fine with how things look now, we've got the games we want, the controllers we want, the prices we want. If you elitist pricks really want to split hairs over graphical differences that aren't even noticeable, and wave a big victory flag for an exclusive, that's fine by me. I have Prototype, it is a great game, and I really like how it plays out. However, I would love to be able to play inFAMOUS as well, but sadly cannot, as I do not own a PS3 either. What I don't understand is the PS3 fans who bash Prototype, even though they get the game as well... What the fuck guys. And if anyone. I mean anyone mentions "LOLZ PROTOTYPE HAZ TEH SUCK GRAPHIX!" The argument is only relevant to to ps3 owners really.
I was trying to figure out which one I wanted more.
I really liked the demo for Infamous and I'll probably still pick it up (maybe today) but I went with Prototype first because I really liked Hulk UD, Prototype looks just like Hulk UD (without Hulk), and I bought Hulk UD for $5 used and after the hours of entertainment it provided, so I owe them.

If you are a ps3 owner here's the easiest way to decide: if you want something more shooterish, get Infamous; if you want something more brawly, get Prototype. If you can afford it, get both; they are both very good.

You don't quite seem to understand the whole 'personal opinion' thing. Personally, i don't give a crap about any PS3 exclusives, i think they all look shit. IN MY OPINION.

Edit: Actually, the exclusives for all the consoles look fairly crap to me, i'm bothered at all by them. Except Crackdown.

inFAMOUS being better, is your opinion, not an absolute fact.

Well, not an ABSOLUTE fact, but yeah it is.

In my opinion, lightning beats ripped-off Akira powers any-day.

Also, there will always be people who will compare things. GTA series and Saint Row series for example. It never stops. Both Prototype and Infamous are good but in different ways. This would be like comparing Star Wars to Star Trek or William Shakespeare and Edgar Allan Poe it just cannot be done.

PS3 fan-boys dis Prototype and X-BOX 360 owners dis Infamous. Non fan-boys can see how this war is tearing the gaming community apart.

Everyone should accept that the games are similar but are no way comparable.

So, games are always good based on opinion.

Congratulations for announcing yourself as a fanboy.
The PS3 is technically better than the 360 in almost everyway, and it is becoming apparent that it has better games/actual exclusives other than timed exclusives.
If you weren't a fanboy you wouldn't care at all about the Infamous vs Prototype, but it's the fact that Infamous is showing the 360 up as being a bit naff which is causing the fanboy whining. So less whining, and more apathy towards the whole thing if you're not a fanboy.

It's funny, you obviously never read my post. You mention whining several times, so I am thouroughly convinced you haven't the slightest idea what that word means. My post said that I was content with my 360's games and controllers and graphics; I closed saying that if ps3 owners wanted to congratulate themselves for owning what they see as the better console, then that's fine, I simply implored you to keep the "technically superior" shit to yourself. This is not whining, please do yourself a favor and read the entire post several times until you understand it enough to respond.

In conclusion:
1. I own a 360
2. I'm happy with it.
