It Shouldn't be a Competition! inFamous and Prototype

It depends on what you want in a game. After WATCHING both prototype and infamous on youtube (walkthroughs), I summarize these games as such.

Prototype:
- More melee-style
- Wanton destruction / Mindless fun
- Not-so-good missions
- Anything goes

inFamous:
- More ranged-style
- More on actually strategically taking out opponents
- Nice level design (when platforming) and varied types of missions
- You actually need to plan ahead

So it all goes down to what you want in a video game. Want a game where you just beat shit up? Prototype. Want a game where you love level and gameplay design as well as strategically knowing what to do next? InFamous. The exclusive though is kind of a barrier to the choice.

2)Infamous has received better reviews. Mixed with above point and you get a lot of bitchy fanboys for the 360 who suddenly realise their idea that they have more/better exclusives no longer flies.

One exclusive doesn't change the fact that both systems have good exclusives. If you really think inFamous changes that, then your more fanboy than you know.

More the fact the 360 is loosing it's exclusives very quickly (Fallout DLC), leaving it with few exclusives of quality.
360 fanboys don't like how things look now, as the PS3 is coming out on top. Again backed up with the fact PC owners don't care about Infamous VS prototype.

actually 360 owners are fine with how things look now, we've got the games we want, the controllers we want, the prices we want. If you elitist pricks really want to split hairs over graphical differences that aren't even noticeable, and wave a big victory flag for an exclusive, that's fine by me. The PS3 is technically better than the 360 in almost everyway, and it is becoming apparent that it has better games/actual exclusives other than timed exclusives.
If you weren't a fanboy you wouldn't care at all about the Infamous vs Prototype, but it's the fact that Infamous is showing the 360 up as being a bit naff which is causing the fanboy whining. So less whining, and more apathy towards the whole thing if you're not a fanboy.

First. yeah im fanboy of 360. I own both consoles. But im trying to sell my PS3 couse i never use it.
But let me say this.
MS/X360 is gonna get some of the ps exclusive titles soon.

FF.

--- we dont have Uncharted: Drake's Fortune- but in my eyes its just a Tomb raider game.
--- dont have God of War- But we will have Dantes inferno- (looks the same- But hate those games.)

God of war is a good selling game yes. But so is something like Halo.

Now we get Project Natal. This im hyped about. PS is working on something to. (But nothing as mindblowing).

Sony lost alot of money by the realese of the different PS3 consoles that didnt sell as good as they hoped.
They are on the fourth or fifth now. (cant remember).
x360 is made by microsoft. (A big ass firm we all hate' and love)

Uncharted (Its the male Tomb raider)

No batteries needed (good thing)
Less technical issues. (yes its stabel)
Sucky live function. (but free)
Same joystick (PS3 fans will say its good, But i hate them)

Halo. series (This is our diamond)
GOW 2 (fun 2 player game)
Infinite Undiscovery (not the best RPG ive seen)
Lost odyssey (the godfather of FF made this and Blue dragon - He did not make FF 10' 12'.)
Blue dragon (A childish but great RPG)
Dead rising (more fun in my eyes than Prototype and Infamous put together)
Dead or alive (Not bad, but its not Tekken. SO im glad tekken 6 is for x360 too)
Fable 2 (Priceless)
Forza ¨ (Kicks GT's ass with the ability to change allmost everything on your car.)
Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom (Great hack and slash game. With alot of hours played)
Star Ocean: The Last Hope (seems to be good)
Too human (its ok. 7/10)
Viva Piñata (Cool game if you like to relax with stuffy animals hehe)

Ring of death (But havent heard anyone with that problem for a long time.)
Batteries (But you can get a recharge pack cheap.)
XBlive (smoooooooooooooth)

All I can say. If you like your PS3 that much. Well Im happy for you. But saying PS3 is on the top is just stupid.
Maybe sony will blow our minds. But for now, My 360 aint the dusty one on the shelf.
Besides:
I know 5 ppl in this area that has an xbox. 3 of them had a PS3 before.
That just tells me something.

Prototype vs Infamous?
I completet Prototype yesterday. It was fun and Hard'. But not sure im gonna play that much more after finishing and killing allmost 3000 civilians (i tryed it all now). And i really didnt like it that much the first hour i tryed Infamous. Then again i get bored easy playing GTA.

Can you blame them? The two games have very VERY similar concepts. But it's wrong to pit them against each other. They're both great, fun games. That's the only fucking thing that matters.

Both games seem great, Prototype is great, but I can only say that because I own it(and the free running parkour stuff kicks ass). inFamous looks great... but it makes me think someone played too much City of Villains XD Makes me miss my Elec/Elec brute.

Well from what I have heard inFamous and Prototype apparently have different play styles, different to the point that playing one doesn't mean you have played the other.

Both seem really fun, but the reason why they seem similar to me is because they are both running with the idea of "who wants to be a super hero?"

Now inFamous seems to have gone into the direction of duality or "what kind of super hero are you?" But that has it's problems with the fact that you can only get the maxium level of powers by being at one end of the scale or the other. Though good got cheesed with that stupid charge attack.

Prototype seem to have gone down the tragic or anti-hero road of "the world hates me so I am going to destroy it." To be honest Prototype seem like a game that was made by some one that said "Hey, what if we take the openness of GTA4 and combine it with the combat system from Devil May Cry 4?" Now that is just what it seems like to me, I can be wrong, but it doesn't seem like an overall bad idea either.

But for the most part they both seem like fun games and it is pointless arguing over them when you could be playing them. Which is what I am going to do, still have to complete the evil side

I've yet to find a PS3 owner who says that, as they will admit that the two games are undeniably very similar. They aren't "congratulating themselves for owning a PS3", but just saying that, according to the reviews, Infamous is better than Prototype - two similar games. So if they had to buy one, they'd buy Infamous. Very reasonable and rational thinking.

I'm not talking about you specifically when I say 360 owners, I'm talking about the people who don't want to admit the two games are similar. As for it being subjective whether a game is good or not, that is true, but it can't be denied whether one game is generally seen as being better than another, which some people want to try and do. I'm not saying you are one of the whiners, but your reaction has been very aggressive towards the topic at hand.

My reaction has not been aggresive to the topic at hand, because shortly after our conversation began, you de-railed it by saying how the ps3 "was technically superior." You changed the conversation when you brought fan-boy prejuidice into the thread.

I don't get why console fanboys complain so much, anyway. Every single of the latest generation of consoles have been nigh PC copies anyway, with online play, LAN (linking several Xboxes together with several TVs, for example), special online services and the same games the PC traditionally gets (I'm looking at you, RTS genre). They also play DVDs and you can buy movies online for them. Do they play music too? I don't have any of the latest consoles but I can imagine they either can, or will be able to in the next console upgrade struggle.

Just call all of them non-upgradable PCs with slightly different focuses and get it over with.

About Prototype vs Infamous, I can't say I care in any way. Since I have a PC I got Prototype and it's god damn awesome. Especially once you complete it and unlock the plus-mode play, where you start over with all your previous powers intact. The ones calling Mercer a superhero, though, must have missed the part where he eats people alive and absorbs their identity, plus a whole bunch of spoilers and TWEEESTS the story/web of intrigue will tell you.

Infamous seems great fun as well, but no PS3 = no Infamous.

They both look unbelievably poor, in my opinion only. That brand of sandbox city game (a la GTA, Crackdown etc) always has me bored to tears in a matter of half an hour.
