I wear a lot of band shirts and people are often surprised when they see what bands I'm into. I've had a lot of people accuse me of wearing them because they're 'vintage shirts' or whatever because apparently that's really popular at the moment. As if I would wear a Black Sabbath shirt if I didn't like Black Sabbath.

I wear a pair of drivewear glasses as my main pair of prescriptions. If anyone doesn't know, drivewear is like transition, except it's already pretty dark, but it just gets darker in sunlight. I have a natural aversion to bright light, and therefore I'm comfortable wearing them constantly. When I'm inside a building and wearing these, I get stares, I get mutterings behind my back, etc. Some people have come up and talked to me about it. From these people's comments, it seems that my dark glasses in buildings get one of these three reactions, depending on age group: A) They're scared of me for some reason, B) They look down on me because I'm apparently (according to them) a bum who's addicted to drugs, or C) They hate me because I'm apparently trying to "look cool". I don't know where people come up with this shit.

I instantly liked you because, although I don't quite understand it, I'm in love with the =3 emote. It's... adorable.
I know! It's the cutest, so I use it a lot so I seem cute^^. *kitty smile*

The problem with the emo label was that the status quo for being a little different in my area for my type of people was to wear whatever you wanted- some of us were full on goths, some were a little old-school hippie, some of us were a little punk but mostly we were all bits of that. When emo swept the town, it was a fashion that the fashionable kids started to wear- and us, with our studded belts and mohicans and hoodies and whatnot, were suddenly not different enough, and that was a little sad. I had a sad time when I became around 15, where the people you could talk to weren't the ones in black anymore- the people wearing black were the ones who used to spit at you and call you a dirty hippy.
Luckily, where I live, the people dressed in black are still the people I'd talk to. I'm so glad the whole "Paris Hilton" fashion caught on rather than the "emo" one, cause mine and other black-clothed people in my city's own styles are somewhat protected =3. I'm not saying no other chick goes about dressed in a boonie, black/red top, studded belts, blue jeans and black/red/brown/purple hair, but hey, at least not many where I live XD.

Love to talk some more with you, but I'm gonna have to sleep off the actually quite manageable amount of booze I've been drinking tonight.
I know the feeling I was often mistaken for a goth/emo kid just because I wore black T-shirts all the time and black jeans. But that flip flopped after I wore tripps for a few years then it was just goth. Now I just wear Black T shirts and and Blue jeans and occasionally my UFO pants and now everyone just thinks I'm in a band and I got to a lot of metal shows. People are confusing creatures.

Everyone at my school thinks I deal and shoot heroin because I wear mostly black and don't talk to that many people. I guess the longish hair and 6'3 height might add to the fear factor...

i wear a Zelda Triforce eagle shirt, Pac-man munchies shirt, and a another LoZ shirt with link aiming his boomerang at some cookies. So people think my Favorite game is the Zelda series even though it isn't its on the list but its not my number one game.

My clothes are fairly plain and unremarkable, courtesy of being a poor college student who is seriously lacking in a social life. The best thing I have is a very awesome black coat, which I don't wear enough. :(

Folks tend to think my Tool shirt looking like it reads 'Fool' is a nod of conscious self depreciation.
I also got rather amusingly called an, and a quote, 'Fucking commie' for wearing a shirt with Mao Zedong on it. In a little square. In the background.

I have a silver necklace that I wear every day. It was a gift from my parents for my 16th birthday. It has an inscription on it that everyone always wants to read, even if they've seen it before. Which leads to lots of people craning their heads down by my chest to read it. Lucky for me that I don't have personal space issues.

I've got a necklace with a bullet on the end a, 7,62 × 39 mm one to be precise. It's a fairly big and does get noticed quite often.

Most people immediately assume that because of this I am a violent man..... I am not. I just wear a bullet round my neck.

Well, I do own an ushanka. Nobody else I know has one of those.
That's awesome, I've got an Ushanka. I mean common how can you walk past a store filled with them and NOT buy one of the right? I absolutely adore it and am thinking of wearing it for my University introduction week, just because I can. XD (also it?s an instant argument winner: ?I have an Ushanka, your argument is invalid.?)

I used to wear a tie around my waist and would mix-match my shoes. To my friends, it was nothing new. However it was hilarious when someone new to our group would comment on my style choices, and everyone would roll their eyes and have that "You have so much to learn" look. XD

During the winter, I have this leather jacket I wear all the time. People misinterpret that all the time.
Tunnel Snakes rule!!
Tunnel Snakes?
In Fallout 3, there was a gang that wore leather jackets called the Tunnel Snakes.

Randomly in conversation, they would exclaim "Tunnel Snakes rule!"

Get it? :D

"Ushanka" is also really fun to say! Don't forget that.

When I celebrated Towel Day, everybody in school looked at me like I was a retard. Even though I spent TWO WEEKS explaining the holiday to everyone I talked to.

I hate my life.
Someday I'll remember to celebrate Towel Day, and then I'll come commiserate with you, as my town is full of preps and jocks. Which makes it all the more fun when I wear my Jayne hat.

Hehehe

"Hey why the Commie wallet? You flaunting your political standing?"

"No, I bought it because it looks nice and I like it. I don't need to flaunt that I'm a communist."
...now I want a wallet like that, the idea of the symbol representing communism being printed on an item that has such close ties to capitalism makes me giggle.
I'll take a pic and put it as my avatar, I like how you noticed the irony :D

It's almost as ironic as buying a T-shirt with Che Guevara's face on it ;)

A friend of mine basically sewed a loose rope noose to the collar of my shirt, so that it wrapped around my neck. A good way to meet people for the first time? Maybe not, but it sure was funny.
