Started up a new map in minecraft today and started to look for a place to build, than I found this:

Hit the sand around and directly behind it, but it didn't collapse.

What do you think?

Ive seen alot of these posts, but what interests me is why theres a floating piece of dirt, when normally only sand spawns aside water...

Anyway.
Ive seen floating sand genned in, but not flying.

But on topic, That thing in the distance IS a sign! :D

Thats not sand actually thats clay lol.

Edit: unless your colors are just messed up and sand is grey in your game rather than yellow...

Happened to me too. Only it was an inverted cross made of stone. Yay Satan!
The inverted cross is actually a Christian symbol, I believe the symbol of Saint Peter (someone check that one, I'm pretty sure though). As I recall, St. Peter asked to be crucified upside down, as he didn't feel he was worth to be crucified in the same manner as Jesus. I believe the inverted cross is meant to be a symbol of humility. So yeah, popular culture is wrong once again, the inverted cross is nothing to do with Satan or the Anti-Christ, it's a Christian religious symbol like any other.

Absolutely correct.

Note: People who don't like the Pope/religion and whatever, don't bother replying. This topic is about minecraft.

I've also seen sand floating naturally, but that was just one block, and in an smp server. That's quite the odd arrangement.

In the beginning, God made a whole bunch of randomly generated blocks, which he could mine and craft all day. Then he added water, and sheep, and pigs and stuff. Then he let all the people on the internet in, even though his vision wasn't yet complete. Then he made the night, and all sorts of horribleness came out of the dark, which made the people on the internet work hard to stay alive at night time.

And god saw everything he had made, and behold, it was very good, so he started charging people a reasonable fee for admission.

"Your SSSSSSSSSSssssssssins have been forgiven?"
I see what you did there.

St. Peter: Heh, creeper got you.

Player: He said he was a priest! He said he could touch my head and absolve my sins!

St. Peter: No, they're just catholic. They only go off when you touch them.

Your forgetting the new desert biomes.
edit: woops reading comprehension fail. Usually dirt is found under the sand though.
edit2: or the guy under me could be right. (Man I feel stupid today.)

OT: Well Jesus did walk on water so I see nothing wrong with a floating cross :p
