It's not the best, but it's still my favorite.

We all have favorite somethings, sometimes we tout our favorites as the best of their respective category, and sometimes our favorites are choices that some people would find odd. Lesser loved works, works with flaws that sometimes piss us off, but we can look past the flaws and still see that stuff that works, just plain works.

So, the topic at hand is: Name one (or more) of your favorite... anything (Movie, game, comic, TV show, manga, anime, etc...) that you can find flaws with, and you can even admit that it's certainly not the best example of whatever it is, but there's still something about it that you just love, warts and all.

My example is Mass Effect. I can admit that it has flaws: The Mako isn't widely favored and with good reason as it has very clunky controls, the combat system has some problems, all the sidequest planets are barren deserts with different paint jobs that house the same three different types of buildings, the inventory system is just a mess (albeit still manageable) and on a technical level, the sequel is superior in most aspects.

I can overlook all that though, because I love the story, the universe, the characters, the epic Space Opera scale of the whole game. Pretty much everything else beyond the actual gameplay I love, coincidentally this is how I felt about KotOR as well.

game: black & white (I just love it, even if it didnt deliver on what it was supposed to promise), with heroes 3 taken out of the question since I just cant find any flaws in it... I need to find that CD...

movie: the waterboy (sure, it's a really, really, really stupid movie, but I can still watch it for more then the tenth time and laugh)

song: st. anger by metallica (sure, it's a bad song, and I know it's one of the more hated songs they have, but I just cant force myself to not enjoy it even a bit when I hear it)

My favourite car is the Moke. I mean it's a Moke, it is far from the "best" car, but that doesn't stop me loving it.

I'm gonna go with No More Heroes. It has some pretty big flaws, especially the first game, but it's still a bloody good time.

I know of a flaw with Heroes 3! The sprite for the upgraded Pyre structure in the Conflux castle is misshapen. Also, you -could- make a really good argument for some castle types being statistically superior to others. Like, say, the Fortress type.
Still one of my favourite games ever though.

One of my favourite seriously flawed movies is Zombie Flesh Eaters (seriously). A lot of the technical aspects of the movie are somewhat subpar, but it has the best looking zombies of any movie I've seen, and the atmosphere is almost perfect.

As for music, my favourite flawed band is Strapping Young Lad. The lyrics aren't always good, and the music varies wildly in quality. But it is a band whose soundscape matches my thoughts almost perfectly when I'm on a downswing.

Black Lagoon (manga and anime) seems like a good example of one I like, warts and all. It's not the deepest or bloodiest anime, but it's still fuckin' good.

The Final Fantasy games VII through to X. I shan't list the flaws because all arguments are subjective and besides, the flaws of the Final Fantasy franchise have been done to death. I know they're not the best thing ever, and I've known for a very, very long time. But they had such a huge impact on me as a child that I can't avoid getting blurry-eyed whenever I start to play through one of them again.

I feel that they encapsulate my childhood so much that I went so far as to get Cactuar and Tonberry tattoos on each leg.

Funnily enough, I even consider VIII my favourite, despite being the reject, because it was the first one I came across at the tender age of 9.

Majora's Mask. I mean, it copy-pasted almost everything from Ocarina of Time, and was crippled with time restraints (Miyomoto wanted it out before the Gamecube), but it's still my favourite Zelda game. Hell, it's my favourite game in the world ever.

The Sword of Truth Saga by Terry Goodkind (If you haven't read this, then I hope you read at least the first one called Wizard's First Rule).

While it may not be the best Fantasy book series, it still has some excellent characters and scenes in it, the series tanks considerably by 'Soul of the Fire' due to its abrupt change in writing style, abandoning the well established main characters for the majority of the book. The series recovers well after that with 'Faith of the Fallen'

lies! all lies! it's perfect in every way!

and I just cant say with a straight face that the conflux feel like part of the game for me...
as far as I care, the original heroes 3, expansion-less, is the way it's supposed to be! (and I always took the fortress to be the second worst in the game, really)

Pretty much everything has flaws so it is hard to name just one or two flawed games that I like. I guess I would have to go with Borderlands for this example though. The inventory system was terrible, the menus were awful, the story was pitiful (DLC stories were better) but the game play is enough fun to keep me coming back for more.

Am i truly the first one to say Fallout games here?

Best games on the planet, still so riddled with flaws and bugs they are nigh unplayable..

If theyd run fluently, i guess i would get orgasmspasm everytime i played them..
