And by the way, I doubt many people here have a kinect right now. The people who visit these forums are more likely to play "hard-core" games (whatever that means). Kinect is, like it or not, focused on the casual crowd. There's nothing wrong with that, and it's a sound business move. Kinect probably cost a LOT to make, so it must appeal to pretty much everyone, or at the very least, offend NO ONE. This means they can't have shooty-shooty gun fun in their opening line up, lest grandpa Jenkins and Aunt Bertha get offended. They need to tap into the casual crowd. Unfortunately, that means that a lot of Gears fans are going to be, for now, left out in the cold.
So don't be surprised if very few people say they own a Kinect. If you like chainsaw guns half as much as I do, there's not that much there for you and I. Maybe in the future, they'll be a reason to buy it.
I suppose if you used your Xbox for multimedia stuff like playing DVDs or listening to music, then the Kinect could be great for the whole hand-gesture thing. But I don't really use my Xbox for playing DVDs, so that's out as well.
From a technology perspective, it's great, fabulous stuff, and it's great that Microsoft made it. From a gamer/consumer perspective.... well I'm sure the value of the product will eventual manifest itself, but for now, I don't see many people who go to this forum buying it. Just saying.
