suppressors conceal muzzle flash, not sound.

Actually... the proper name for a "silencer [http://www.rusmilitary.com/images/br_suppressor.jpg]" is a "sound suppressor [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suppressor]", as it doesn't actually silence a firearm... just suppresses both sound and muzzle flash. There's also such a thing as a "flash suppressor [http://www.mapartsinc.com/products/8220610246_a1%20001.jpg]". Much less bulky, and only suppresses muzzle flash... standard issue on US military battle rifles.

I know it wouldn't completely silence the gun but its better than a loud repeated bang giving away my location.
