Anytime I need to relax I listen to Tool or Pink Floyd.

It's a bit louder and more aggressive than most would relax too, but if I put some good headphones in & close my eyes I could sleep to this one.

I find the lack of Daft Punk in this thread disturbing

That, and pretty much anything else by Daft Punk.

Another source of constant high quality and endless entertainment is Two Steps From Hell.

Also, this is the first time I made a post with videos embedded. Is it wrong that I feel pride and accomplishment?

I love me some Anathema and some ambient electronic music.

I know this sounds corny, but sometimes when I wake up my alarm plays this music. When the sun is bursting through my rather large windows... its kinda magical, it really is.
That'd be a much nicer thing to wake up to than this:

You ninja'd me on that. I never thought this day would come.

I'm so happy.

OT: Well, one song that always calms me down is something I've been linking a lot the past few days apparently.

Binnsy stole one of my go-to Helios songs, but that doesn't mean I can't link more!

Keith Kenniff (guy who uses the Helios moniker) does all sorts of great chill-out stuff. He's got a more piano-focused side under the name Goldmund too.

There are a bunch more that are staples of my 'ambient playlist' I use when I'm focusing or something, but it'd take a long time for me to track all of them down and link them through Youtube.

I am relaxing at this moment to Axel Rudi Pell

If I've had a really bad day?
Well this song is bit controversial in that state, because the lyrics, which are awesome, are basically about getting over something bad but this song to me means a lot more than just that.

But yeah, doesn't matter if I want to relax or get pumped I usually just go for Rock N' Roll and Heavy Metal \,,/

It got to be this, seriously this guy is a god a remixing vocals from Disney and other movies while adding his mix into it!

Oh wow that is seriously impressive.

This has been my go to song for relaxing for a while now. Can't help but feel relaxed listening to it.

While thinking about this I've realised that the majority of the music I like is more supposed to get you worked up, sad, or just generally fuck with your head, than relax you. So I don't have much. But there's a few things I guess.

Nice bit of relaxing R&B first:

This is strange, but very relaxing to me just because of the very slow pace:

And of course there's always post-rock, generally lovely to wake up to, or to go to sleep to, so let's have some of that:

Then there's just general chilled-out downtempo stuff like these:

Also, I second the recommendations for Gorillaz, Anathema, Frames., The Doors, Tom Waits, Major Lazer, Sigur Ros, Devin Townsend, Tool, Daft Punk, Bonobo, and This Will Destroy You. BASICALLY MOST OF WHAT'S IN HERE. You guys have good taste.

Huh, I actually didn't know how to embed Youtube videos, UNTIL NOW! Thanks Daft Time :D

Here's some of my favorite, most relaxing music...All instrumental, except a bit of the last one.

And the big daddy of em' all, Vangelis. This seems to be one of his more unknown songs. I consider it his best, I've never zoned out more to a song, than this one.

If you enjoyed that, continue on, into the spoiler of mystery and relaxation...

Ooh, an adventurous one, eh? Good choice. :)

Hmm...Now what to end this with...Ah, this will do nicely. Bit of a monster, bit if all your doing is perusing the web, it's not too bad.

Hope you enjoyed it! :D

Because there's a surge of ambient electronica being posted now; here's my submission!

Heh, I've been waiting for Mirror's Edge to come up actually. You think that sounds a little corny? I've got my own story about the soundtrack:

I had gotten home after a reasonably long day. Things had gone pretty swell; I had some laughs, knocked almost everything that I currently needed, it was a casual Friday to do and it was raining. As I make my way to my room I kick off my shoes and grab a ginger beer from the fridge. When I hit my room, I put my feet up on the desk, fired up my ambient electronic play-list and looked out the window. A song from the Mirror's Edge soundtrack was playing, I couldn't help but feel "today was a good day" as I listen to it. It was pretty magical in it's own right.

...Anathema was a good choice too. XD

My taste are quite a bit softer these days, but I use to listen to Tool to unwind pretty often. Fantastic band.

Hah, that's excellent! Yeah, the Walking Dead has some great music - Bear McCreary alone is awesome - though my favourite has to be when Of Monsters and Men appeared on the show. It surprised the hell out of me.

Chillwave is a douchy and thoroughly mediocre genre in my book, but good lord do I love this song.
