Fair enough, you look like you've been around quite a few forums so maybe you know better then me regarding forums xP

The notable exception was Epic Wynn, and honestly? You guys fueled that little dumpster fire.

To this day I still don't understand what the fuss was over regarding epic wynn. He never bothered me, yet apparently had a way to piss off normally opposed cliques of people, i'm legit impressed.

Re assive aggressiveness certainly doesn't stay in 1 thread imo, people don't just forget the discussion they had with another user just because they are now in another thread. Passive aggressiveness spreads like a plague and lingers in the air so everyone breathes it in, to the point i feel a lot of discussions on the escapist are dominated exactly by that.
I feel like Wynn is far from the only example, if anything he was just a rare example of an accepted target where apparently it was open season on him and EVERYONE was invited, one of the very few times i've ever seen this site come together on something.
It would be beautiful, poetic even, if it didn't result in someone being chased off the site..

Epic Wynn only really annoyed me when he went on epic tirades about the moderators and how they needed to be regulated or some shit. Apparently self-awareness was not strong with that one.

Honestly, I got no ideas for any kind of gaming forum, though I'm considering Giant in the Playground.

Already on a few other places, but they're all either blog-style or Disqus-based, and not really the same.

A thought, and maybe this will be proven misguided in the future, but a thought.

Yahtzee Croshaw, the site's face and leading draw, has been finally given a contract after what, 10 years? Why shell out big time like that right before shutting down? I suspect they did the numbers and decided they can survive as long as they have him under contract (while axing everybody else). So the guys that put out a shitty webcomic every 3 weeks are gone, whatever. I don't think the site will go down until Yahtzee parts ways with it. And I feel like it's going to be on his terms too.

It was painted as 'big news' at the time, when really all that happened was they just moved him from a renewing/rolling contract into a permanent position instead. Hardly newsworthy at all.

Eh, I'll probably find some Star Wars forum somewhere. It's the fandom that keeps on giving with regards to popularity and longevity, making it fertile ground for discussion (if you can stomach the pissing matches between the more unhinged fans and accusations of not being a "true Star Wars fan" if you like/don't like certain iterations of the series). I used to frequent LucasForums before I started posting here, but that site's gone. TheForce.Net seems pretty lively, but goddamn do they have a bad case of subforum bloat. It makes this forum look like a model of simplicity by comparison.

GitP is actually a lot more active than I thought it would be. And it's running on that sweet vBulletin 4 software. vB4 is getting kinda outdated now though (took a long time for that even too) but even now it's still chugging along and still strong in its own ways in terms of pure features. And from what I'm hearing from you guys, staff is competent. I'll add it to the list of potentials.

So sad that Escapist is now so mismanaged that they're almost at the mercy of Yahtzee. Although they're probably too stupid/don't give enough of a shit to recognize even that.
