Death note is good and that's fairly new.
and I hate to say it but I learned that the anime bubble burst in Japan during the recession so there are fewer new animes than ever.

For a moment, just let me ask that you please spell, grammar, punctuation check something this long before posting it. I read it out of courtesy, because I think you have a pretty sound point (ish), and it would have been nice to have had the courtesy of an easy read extended to me.

Alright, I'm done with that, here's what I think.

Long runners from any form of media ever have always been subject to going off the rails somewhere along the way. Bleach, Pokemon, Yu Gi Oh, Naruto, they all drag on for fucking ever and eventually they have to have more filler than plot, largely because they've been based off manga and they've overtaken the manga. Bleach in particular is guilty of this, the manga containing a tight, coherent plot which all comes together quite nicely (I'm only to the end of the Soul Society arc though so it could all go in the shitter later) whereas the anime overtook it by so much it needed an entire filler arc to compensate.

My suggestion:

Don't watch long runners. Watch shorter shows with defined endings that don't drag on for ever. Your personal tastes will of course vary but for me, Love Hina, Trigun, Hellsing and Gunslinger Girls are nicely contained and tell their story without getting bloated and keeling over.

I can't really help you with new shows. Anime isn't really my thing, it's more manga, and as noted above that has less of a tendency for filler. Also, watch Ghost in the Shell and Appleseed, because they are awesome in ways I don't have the vocabulary to describe.

I'm just gonna interject here: The English Dub is EVIL. Sure, the dialog is good, and it's really faithful, but NOT ALL NEW YORKERS ARE FOREIGNERS AND/OR FROM LONG ISLAND! GAAAAH!

...yeah.
Is that your only pet peeve? I thought that definitely worked for the setting. Plus not everyone sounded like that.

It... it maimed my New Yorker pride... and Isaac and Miria don't count, as they weren't from New York originally.

Besides, what else am I supposed to complain about? The characters are too likable? The story is too interesting?

watch One Piece, its the one anime which its fillers are good. I know its a shocker becuase fillers usualy suck but in this case they are funny and good. its a show in which you want to see more and more of it. It starts out slow but it gets better, the art style will grow on you and its animation gets really good.

FYI: do not watch the dub, the 4kids one espcialy they butchured the show, and censored it alot. You could watch the Funimation dub, its not bad but itsnt good, its okay. Or you could just watch the japanese dub which is the best.

Death Note

Watch it and realise Japan can still come up with interesting, original and exciting series with great, relatable characters, the occasional goofyness, thought provoking oh and no filler.

Plus good dub too, which is nice

Honest to God, I hate about 90% of all anime. The only ones I've ever really liked were Elfen Lied (Which as I'm quick to say, is my favorite anime of all time, and one of my favorite shows of all time), about anything from Hayao Miyazaki, Death Note, and Hellsing kinda. Code Geass was almost good, but ultimately resorted to using the cliches from most animes, which I hate. Usually about some girly looking douche-teenagers who want to kill Satan or some shit, it's basically much like a JRPG. But when its not about that, its usually about hentai, yiffing, etc. And in the rare occasions when it's actually about something other than Satan killing, and hentai, they still manage to fuck it up, like Lucky Star and Haruhi Suzimiya.

Maybe there are some other animes I'd like that I just haven't seen yet, but as of now, I'm very unimpressed.

I don't normally watch anime, but I just watched the first and only season of Air Gear, a completely ridiculous show which I think falls under the category of "So bad, it's good."

code geauss, is new, and amazing. It had the best ending of anything i have ever seen, including movies, books, anime, video games, ect. Full metal alchemist is only a few years old, also amazing. Bleach is ongoing, and i really enjoyed it up until the (6?) months of filler that just ended, but thats cuz the manga slowed down. Death note was ok in my opinion, a lot of people thought it was amazing.

That said, i dont think anime is getting any worse, i just think that when you look at old anime, you watch the good ones and forget that thier were 15 that sucked for every good one, they just dont get watched anymore. Thats my theory, so i slug through the slop looking for good ones and nothing is more pleasing than when i succeed.

I dont know how old it is, but Buso Renkin is one of the best anime ive ever seen. Kinda reminds me of bleach done in 26 episodes.

I agree that for the most part quality has been down.

What pisses me off is that almost ALL the anime this season was nothing but Fanservice Anime, loli Fanservice anime, Moe, and Fanservice anime bordering on Hentai.

I personally hate fanservice, i will sit through it for a great Anime like Vandread but, to me it rarely adds to the story and iv seen plenty of great Manga/Anime go down the tubes because the story and characters were reduced to "Who's pantys are we gonna peak at today?"

But there are still great Anime out.

Sword of the Stranger is a great movie done by Studio Bones.
I haven't seen TTGL yet but iv heard its great.
I haven't finished Baccano! yet but so far its AMAZING.
Vandread is a great Anime, it has fanservice but it rarely gets in the way and it has a good cast of characters.
Steam Boy is another great movie.
I love Bleach, but its a long series and admittedly the Filler can get more interesting than the actual story line.
But the Bleach movies are great.
Bleach:Memories of Nobody, Bleach:The Diamond Dust Rebellion, and Bleach:Fade to Black were all great.
Samurai Deeper Kyo was also good.
And The Gokusen was a great Comedy Anime.

A few older but still awesome series you should check out are...
Tekkaman Blade
The Big O
Rurouni Kenshin
G Gundam
Case Closed
and Trigun.

hope you find something you like.
And you could always read Manga!
I prefer Manga to Anime myself.

But dont give up hope, the moe and perverted will pass!
[sup]hopefully...[/sup]

Could someone explain to me why everyone likes cowboy bebop so much? I'm honestly curious, because I watched the first 5 episodes and every minute was torture. The "plot", if you can call it that, was forced, and having watched scattered episodes from later in the series(parts from over a dozen episodes), i feel safe in saying that the episodes are almost completely unrelated to one another. I don't like anime like that because my favorite part of anime is the extended plot involving a book-series-like increase in power for the main character. Cowboy bebop feels stagnant from the 2nd episode to me. Am I the only one who feels this way? Can any of you prove me wrong? I am honestly curious why so many people like this anime.

I think the one with the wizard guy is caled "Faye stay night"
If the Fate/Stay Night visual novel that that anime was based on wasn't the golden standard by which VNs should be measured, I would object very strongly.

As is, while the anime is a...so-so adaptation of a small part of the game, the game blows it out of the water so much that I don't take offense at your rejection of the anime (which had some problems capturing the motivation of the characters, good music and art but laughably bad animation, and naturally only dealt with a comparatively small aspect of the objective worst of the game's three routes).

Because not everyone objects to episodic TV shows, and the individual episodes themselves tend to be fantastically animated, set in an interesting setting with likable characters, and what episodes do deal with a continuous plot are very well told (including the show's very bittersweet ending, which was also the conclusion to Spike's arc that started in episode 5).
