There are quite a few Final Fantasies, though, being an Xbox player, you might prefer ore action-oriented titles. In that case, there are all sorts of Dragon Ball fighting games, and even an old gem of the last generation, Black. And of course there are the games that come to mind immediately like Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, God of War, and, with its age, Guitar Hero and DDR don't cost much, and their age doesn't show much at all, since no one cares for the graphics anyways.

Yeah I really dislike JRPGs and "anime" styled games, but I'm giving P3 and P4 a chance since my buddy keeps talking about them and they seem good.
You will not regret it!

Pretty sure no one said it yet but you should check out Colosseum: Road to Freedom. It's a third person fighting game where you play as a slave forced to fight as a gladiator in ancient rome, with a bunch of different endings based on performance. I thought it was insanely fun back when I played it. Also, if you like fighting games I liked the Def Jam series, though I've heard that my opinion on it isn't always shared by others.

Dragon Quest VIII

If you have to ask why, you haven't played it yet.
This, also, Tales of Symphonia, Metal Arms: Glitch in the System, and Odin Sphere (EVERYONE needs to play Odin Sphere).

Wow, someone mentioned Gungrave, watch the Anime too, it's good. Now for my suggestion. If you can find it (kind of hard to find) "Trapt." Short, but with massive replay value. If you loved roadrunner cartoons as a kid this is Acme-lishos. It's a continuation of the Tecmo's Deception series. But like Final Fantasy there's no continuity, so there's no reason to have to go back and play the PSone prequels. (other than playing some massively fun games) The story is junk, but the cutscenes are skippable, and it's all about the play value anyway. You are given some simple traps that you can set in various dungeon rooms filled with other traps to make someone die in the most convoluted and hilarious ways. The more complex and graphic and painful you can make someone die, the more money you get. You get money to upgrade traps to give them more damage, throw people farther, combine with other traps better, ect. An example, a spring floor throws someone across a room into a wall, which slams out throwing them in the path of a swinging pendulum blade, which hits them throwing them across the room landing at the foot of some stairs, which a rock rolls down and crushes them. Fun.
