I watched it. I was happy with the results too. This was my First Spike VGA's so there is no prior thing to base my opinion on. But I can agree that it's more for the "COD IZ BEST GAEM EVA" Crowd. Best game of the Decade was not surprising and well deserving. There were only Two games I wanted GOTY to go to. Those were: Dishonored or The Walking Dead. TWD definitely cleaned up, but to no surprise. That was a good game. Same with Dishonored, it's good that it got best Action/Adventure game of the Year.

I think it was better this year only because I was expecting some game announcements rather than an actual award show. Beyond Dark Souls II and The Phantom Pain, it was depressing as always. Sammy J or not.

Samuel L. Jackson is not a man, he is a being of pure concentrated awesome and badass. Needless to say, despite my indifference to the VGAs, I did like almost all the Jackson skits, as well as the orchestra.

Also, I am glad to see that Black Ops 2 not win anything. No offense to the game or anything, but I have been wanting to see that series be taken down a peg since 2009.

As for Walking Dead winning Game of the Year, I never played it personally (have seen live streams of all 5 episodes though), and it isn't my first vote, but I was glad it won, as it presented factors most games don't show nowadays, IMO.

I stayed up until 4am GMT watching a stream online.

Boring as all hell.
Even Tenacious D couldn't save the snoozefest.
At least last year and the year before (the only other two I watched) there was more spectacle involved.
I dunno about you guys, but I'd rather have something to hate than nothing to like.

On a (loosely) related note:
Dr. Pepper, A man-only drink?
Way to cut your purchase demographic in half and be patronising as hell at the same time!

It wasn't bad. The only problems I had with it were:

1. XCOM (a multiplatform game) winning best PC game of the year. Should have gone to something like Chivalry MW, Natural Selection 2, PS2, or Fall of the Samurai.

2. Halo 4 getting best graphics award. I mean, is this a joke? Natural Selection 2, which was created by 7 people, looked considerably better. In no world should a game running exclusively on 7 year old hardware be nominated for best graphics. Did they not see FC3 on PC!?

I didn't watch it but apparently Phantom Pain is Metal Gear Solid V so I am super fucking excited.

HL2 winning GOTD was a big "yawn".

TWD winning GOTY was a pleasant surprise. Sadly I can't help but feel that it won it because of the tv/comics, but I'll take it either way.

Jeez, I remember back when they had Fantastic 4 the video game nominated for awards. It seems that as the quality of the games they have for nomination increase, the show does as well.

I didn't care for the Samuel skits except for the walking dead one. And I hate their 4 nom limit.

This year had the best set of winners, All the nominations were complete BS but at least the right game won pretty much all the awards. (Except for Mass Effect 3 obviously, not an RPG, not the best of anything)

It was really nerve racking to see the nominations
One Good Game vs. 4 Shit Games!
and I was actually biting my nails until the winners were announced.

I do think Jen Taylor should have won best actress instead of the girl who played Clementine. Because Cortana's performance made Halo 4. Other than that I agree with all the winners of this year's VGA's (except ME 3). Weird I know right... It's almost like after 10 years they finally grew up right...

That may be Bullshit, I didn't actually watch the show I just looked up the Noms and the Wins but that's the important thing right?

I only took a few glances at it, however I was pleasently surprised that Blops 2 didn't sweep the awards this year.

In fact, I was incredibly surprised at most of the game choices. I mildly geeked out when TWD won GOTY. Definitely deserved it.

It was harmless enough I guess. Pretty standart titles with the exception of Walking Dead which is good.

It was okay, though I only caught the "Game of the Decade" award. I wished that actually announced the nominees in addition to that montage. I mean I didn't even know those were supposed to BE the nominees. Love that Shadow of the Colossus and Wind Waker (personal favorite, Twilight Princess can go suck it), and not a single Call of Duty to be found (though maybe the first Modern Warfare deserved a nomination if we're discussion cultural impact, since Wii Sports is on there).

It was actually alright. Kinda surprised acually. Loved the dark souls 2 announcement.

However, Lords of Shadows 2 is to be set in the future and it looks like you will play as Dracula...ughhhh. I'm not usually a stickler for lore but...

Spoiler for the Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow, and Lords of Shadow incoming!
Julius Belmont killed Dracula 1999! Which led to Soma Cruz being his reincarnation! Don't screw this up Konami! Dracula needs to die at the end of this game!
This is a reboot of the franchise so it wouldn't really matter. The Dracula in Lord of Shadow isn't the same as the one in the "original" Castlevania series, whose origin is explained in Lament of Innocence as being Mathias Cronqvist. Of course it is kind of confusing that they then go and add Trevor and Simon Belmont back into the mix for the upcoming 3DS game.

The Walking Dead winning GOTY was the biggest joke in the history of the world. Its not even a fucking game. Its a interactive choose your own path comic book. You couldnt even play it all at once when it was released.Biggest crock of bullshit I have ever seen.Yeah the story was good not but not good enough to forgive the fact that there was NO FUCKING GAMEPLAY!

There is my reaction. An for the record I love the walking dead.

I know that it is different, unfortunately. I just really love all the 2D Castlevania games, especially Aria and Dawn of Sorrow. :(
