I don't get how matchmaking is any more "simple" than choosing your own server - or why choosing your own server is so complex to begin with. You see the server name, how many players it has, what map its on, and ping. You look at what map you wanna play, double click the name of that server, and you're good to go. I honestly have no idea why they're dicking around with a working formula.

That actually makes it so that a host will never leave in midgame. And you only have to follow the rules of the Multiplayer online. You can still host private matches I'm pretty sure.
Really the only down thing that I can understand from this is I have nothing to accuse players of when they beat me one on one. I can't say they are using a mod anymore. Or does this only applie to PC? You might as well just buy an xbox if you have enough money for a PC

Good old Microsoft for starting the trend to nickle and dime us all. This is what happens when the consumer base gets too big and becomes uneducated as a consumer. Well it was good while it lasted but looks like the business men have forced the ideology of greed instead of having fun.

Glad I'm not into this series but still making business decisions like IW has just ruined it all for every gamer.
I don't know what's wrong with the games you've been playing, but I'm still having a blast with my games.

As far as I can tell, PC gamers get screwed over, whilst us simple folk on the consoles carry on as usual. Ah well, not my problem...

But please correct me if I'm wrong, I'd like to know if anything does affect me...

Just another reason for me to put this game on a list of games that I wanted to buy and I never will. It will stand there right next to Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising.

Oh and by the way, I'm a pc gamer.

Basically this. Why do they feel the need to do this? For what purpose?

Well, based on this interview alone, don't think so. This was mostly around the PC version.

I had been considering getting MW2 since I enjoyed the original, but viewed this one as sort of a hype machine.

But if this proves true I won't be bothering. Welp. Guess it's time to pre-order L4D2!

Woops, my bad, bundled you in there because it seemed like you were with the "WHAT'S DA PROBLEM?!? IS JUST LIEK CONSOLES!" crowd.

Your analogy is bad, too, if they never advertised the mod community as a reason to buy the game. If a company wants to retain full control over their product, why not let them?

If the 360 gamers can deal with it so can you. It's not the end of the world.
The issue here is you BOUGHT the game. And now they want to tell you what you're allowed to do with it. See, this is the kind of reason PC gamers come off as elitist towards consoles, because all along we've been calling console gamers out to the fact that they're basically being robbed by companies.

You don't pay to borrow the game, you pay to own it. If a company wants to "retain full control over their product" then they better not expect to charge us the price of owning the actual game.

IW want more control of their game, they're destroying what makes a game last so long in favor of being able to control their product.

Damn you Flashpoint, damn you.

OT
The only thing that bother's me about this is the whole mod issue. However I feel like were not getting the whole story so I am going to see how this plays out.

I don't think you understand.

MW2 is going to be ridiculously popular. People that don't usually buy PC games are probally going to buy this instead of the console version due to alot of the reviews that said MW1 was better on the computer. So, instead of confusing a boatload of new users, it's easier to just piss off a few hardcore PC fans.

I'm not saying it's right to do that, but the logic is sound.

This is a console gamer. It is full of failure to understand how the modding, dedicated server and competitive gaming communities function and how this affects them.

FUN is purely subjective. A the moment I would use the word SHIT.
No mods? Last time I checked it was the Frontlines mods that turned the usual grenadefest into something actually good. No dedicated servers? Oh boy, here comes the Overcrowd Train! Oh wait, I might need to stand in a queue to get into it. Sure is freedom of choice in here.
Plus the multi looks exactly the same like in CoD4.

Sorry, Apoc, but Activision ditched the concept of FUN long ago. Better save your cash for Modern Warfare 7, I've heard that there will be Stalingrad in there.

Welcome to Dickmove Central, IW can go fuck themselves. After the stellar job treyarch did with providing tons of support and DLC for COD:WAW; IW (the supposedly superior company) have pulled this shit... no dedicated servers? Are they serious, that's unreal, also no mods? What about zombie mod for COD4 that shit is cool. I can't wait for Treyarch to make COD7 and rock out some serious after sales support and put IW to shame.

You've had it fine all this time because you didn't know any better.

What you said would be like if Microsoft they were changing X-Box Live to use friend codes like on the Wii and me saying "Oh well, Wii users had it fine all this time so you will be fine too."

Just because you console gamers are stupid enough to enjoy buying all your extra content and having terrible lag on player hosted servers doesn't mean that PC gamers are.

I'll wait with my rant untill I see the finished product. No sweat about the steam thing, auto patch are extremly convenient and I'm on steam 24/7 anyway. Secondly, all my friends will get MW2 on console so starting DS with them are far away.
