This kid lived well and said himself he wasn't angry with the two individuals so just why?
Because he's fucked in the head?
Well done Sherlock.
Why is he fucked in the head? I can't think of too many people deciding one day it's time to kill your family without motive.
I dunno... this guy I was subscribed to on youtube did the same thing... and he seemed pretty normal... beforehand at least...<.<

Genetic disposition and growing up detatched from the rest of the world?

You ask the most stupid and unnecessary questions, then proceed to burn anyone who provides answers. Stop it.
I'm afraid I can't do that, Dave.

I asked a theoretical question and you're the one who answered. Now, before I stop anything I shall question your answer in regards to 'genetic disposition and growing up detached from the rest of the world'. There are numerous people who have been home-schooled so I doubt that's it.

I'm sure we will find out eventually that he has some kind of mental illness.

If you're going to act like you know what you're talking about, make sure you KNOW what you are TALKING about. I'm sick of people spreading misinformation based off obvious personal bias.
And it's misinformation because you say so? Talk about "obvious personal bias."

Come on, if you're going to remove the speck from my eye, make sure to remove the plank from yours, first.

OT: Holy shit. There is OBVIOUSLY something deeply wrong with this kid. Maybe he was born a sociopath and can't feel emotions? Either way, a healthy human being would have been attached to his/her family emotionally.
Don't think so, he mentioned in the audio that he is now freaked out by guns after the shooting, and that he is going to have nightmares from it, and that he hates the feeling that he killed someone. These sound like emotions to me.

It's obvious that he has SOME sort of mental problem, probably something related to not understanding rational consequences, but during the record itself, it sounds more like he was in shock, as if being surprised by the results of shooting his family, than simply being "evil" as he described himself.

He's worried about HIMSELF. Not his dead relatives, not how his father is going to feel.

This is just textbook sociopath.

Stuff like this always makes me curious... what, exactly, was going on in this person's brain? Did he just snap? Stop thinking about things for the duration? Was it sort of like sleepwalking? What's it like to go insane?

(yes, I'm slightly strange. No, I'm never going to Do Ye Likewise. I'm perfectly safe, I promise!)

Genetic disposition? Are you referring to genetic predisposition? If so, please be aware that genetics are not the be-all, end-all of mental illness, nor is growing up 'detached'. I know it should go without saying, but sadly, I can't trust everyone to readily acknowledge these facts.

Also note that he attended public school at least part-time throughout his secondary academic career up until this January, when he began fully homeschooling. Given that these are the few solid facts I can find about his personal life, perhaps I'm missing something, but he doesn't appear to have been highly isolated or 'detached' as he could easily have been had he been homeschooled for all or most of his schooling years.

It definitely seems like something's up, and it's entirely possible to be emotionally abused and neglected in a well-to-do family, so I look forward to more detailed descriptions of what's going on in his head, but I have issues with your quick, dismissive summary of why he could be, quote, 'fucked up' given that the facts don't seem to support your assertions.

Clearly video games, the internet and dubstep are to blame for this.
I can't wait for the public's reaction to this...

Maybe, just maybe, that's what he meant with genetic disposition. [/serious]

The comments on this page are pretty fucked up. The dispatcher may have been saying it as protocol, but she was right. This kid needs help, not to be put down.

I love the woman he's talking to, she's doing an amazing job keeping her cool in an insane situation like that.

It makes me feel good to know that there are actually 911 operators who are able to act professionally. It seems like where I live, that kind of people are rare. There's been several cases in recent years where the operator has been a total asshole, for example, I remember there was a case where a guy called 911 because his wife was acting violently (the guy was of slight build, almost the same weight as the woman) and the operator said "So you're getting your ass kicked by a woman?" and refused to send a police patrol. So yeah.

I don't think he'll get the death penalty being only 17 but he does live in Texas..

I really hope he doesn't. There is something very, VERY wrong in his head and killing him won't get to the bottom of it. I mean, no sympathy because he did still kill his mother and sister so I hope he's still locked away for a very long time.

That operator gets points for keeping calm the entire time.

Why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why? Is all I can think about when reading the article, what drives man to do these things. I know people preach the diversity of opinions and different views, and yada yada. But sometimes all this diversity of thought processes just seems to go to far. This article isn't even remotely funny, not because its overly horrific, but because of the utter pointlessness of it all. Sorry if this was melodramatic, but seriously I just don't understand it.

edit: After pondering for a few minutes, I realized the kid must have poor self control, everybody has fleeting thoughts of harming/killing others, but that's all they are fleeting thoughts that go by within seconds, the fact that he wasn't even angry contributes to the overall pointlessness of it all, especially when he calls the police right after it. That shows that the guy didn't even have enough freaking self preservation instinct to hide his crime to escape the consequence. I just don't get it because it just seems so alien, as though the guy is broken in some subtle yet massive way.

Why are people being so damning of him when they don't know his situation?
He probably has some kind of mental disorder.
Because when you get right down to it, he still killed his family in cold blood. Hell, this mental disorder could be sociopathy.

It sucks if he does have a disorder but it hardly means he's deserving of understanding.

That's just scary. He's so calm, so... Apathetic. Like he doesnt really comprehend what he's done outside of a completely objective view. Like... I don't even know what. It's just... Wrong. People shouldn't be able to think like that.
