I think I spent more time staring at the picture and trying to make sense of it than trying to understand what the hell is going on in Japan.

As for the actual story, well I don't know. Too tired to think of something to say, and what little brain-power I have is now focused on that picture and its question. Is this even real? Really Japan? I love anime and manga because of it's strong female characters, even better when all the men in the series are completely useless. It's a breath of fresh air, don't ruin it over something as outdated and ignorant as homophobia!

Really, think about it. Can you imagine any US based committee on the exact same subject matter taking the time to differentiate between forms and genres of the media? No, they'd just try and ban/censor everything even remotely risque or pornographic, not just loli and domme woman stuff. I'd say that alone gives them a more open mind about sex that they have government officials willing to actually discuss it, regardless of how idiotic their discussion may be, instead of just saying "It's the product of Satan, ban it all! JESUS IS LORD!".

Considering how insular the Japanese government generally is - even or especially below the national level, even during those rare times it's not the supremely ironically-named Liberal Democrats in power - in addition to that, and something this strange is not terribly surprising. Can only hope it doesn't go too far; this is basically an advance warning on just how dangerous that bill is likely to get.

I love living in the BENELUX, we are so liberated by comparison (often, anyway).

Those notes from that meeting rule. I never realized that women actively wanting to have sex with men is what made men gay!
Obviously, the only properly heterosexual solution involves judicious use of that r-word that Japanese media seems so fond of depicting. Nothing violent, illegal or immoral about that one after all.

At first, I looked at this with amusement - 'Awwww, old people being comically offensive. How adorable!'
Then I read the article and realized that they actually have a great deal of power. Well, shit. It's like somebody put our racist grandma in charge of who gets affirmative action scholarships.
