Anyone watching this? I've seen two episodes so far and probably won't have finished the run for a week or more, so mark any spoilers please, but I'm interested in general impressions.
I was quite fond of Daredevil, although I thought some of the secondary characters were limp/poorly realized (Foggy I am looking in your direction) and that the show only really took off during its finely choreographed fight sequences. So far Jessica Jones feels like a cut above. Ritter is doing an excellent job, her supporting cast is competent, the concept of a super hero with PTSD is both interesting and refreshing (for me, anyway, it's not something I've seen before), and like with Daredevil it seems immediately evident that the villain is going to be something special. Super hero movies have long had trouble creating truly memorable/threatening villains, because the hero is always over-equipped to solve the problem. Often the best on offer are anarchic lunatics like The Joker who are looking to cause maximum collateral damage before being easily smacked down. Having a villain on offer who the hero has to genuinely fear, and may even be completely impotent against, is pretty fascinating.
