Eh it was a good episode anyway and I have never heard another video producer on the escapist mention it. PS1 classics seem to go a miss with a lot of people and to finally have one who even acknowledges the ps1 is a plus for meAzaraxzealot said:i love how all someone needs to do is name-drop an undersuccessful cult-favorite on this site to become instantly beloved and get away with saying ANYTHING.
watch this:
"GEE WILLIKERS! I sure do love me some of that Psychonauts! It sure was a GREAT game that no one played! Gee wiz that game deserved better!"
(i really do think it was good, but i think it may be just some sort of thing where people only love it because the average Cash-In of Duty nut hasn't heard of it)
Daily drop is interesting man. I don't understand the correlation you are trying to make. That's like saying there is a debate as to whether particle physics is "tasteful" or otherwise...Negatempest said:Okay,..wait one second. So we (The escapees) are too high brow for this show, BUT a show dedicated to the sole purpose of dropping a single item a day in slow motion is "tasteful"? We are one heck of a fickle bunch.
Honestly I'm not sure what to make of the situation. He wasn't pulling his misogynist "satire" bullshit (only one thing that could be interpreted as a rape joke, no MS Paint genitalia, no exploitative cover pic, hasn't called the Escapist's readers 'cunts' on his twitter in the last couple hours), instead it was mostly harmless nostalgia.Hive Mind said:You people are giving the sexist sod ANOTHER chance? *sigh*
I see your point and you conveyed it very well with that post. Nice.loodmoney said:Honestly I'm not sure what to make of the situation. So I think it could go one of two ways: it stays boring and mostly inoffensive, possibly being cancelled as a result (fingers crossed); or he is just taking a breather episode from his regular trolling and he will eventually do something horrible. I kinda hope it is the former, inasmuch as it makes him a less shit person, but if he does decide to go back to the old ways, then no, he is done for.
Basically: While I can't stand him when he spouts sexist crap, I don't know how I feel about Sterling being here on principle (in light of what he has done in the past &c.) if he doesn't.
Oh come on, what's the big difference? It's the same principle - take a character type people can't understand, then exacerbate it and blur the line between the character and the actor, then put him in a situation where the spotlight shines brightest on his faults. Jim's character's main flaws are his pride and his penchant for swearing (thus he has a web show superficially about how he can fix the problems of the gaming world), whilst Colbert is merely ignorant (a quality that his job as a news reporter shows us).mikev7.0 said:Okay wow. Um, I can't believe you drew that comparision for like a zillion reasons but I'll keep it to one and make it simple okay? Stephen Colbert is not just funny but even in his most aggregious rants he still seems almost annoyingly likeable. I can not believe you compared those two.....seriously.chif-ii said:Epiphany, guys.
Jim is kinda like Steven Colbert. If you don't understand that his douchebag, self-centered behavior is just an act, in the same way that Colbert's all-knowing yet idiotic comedy is just an act, than you're going to get all tight in the underpants about it. If, however, you recognize the act for what it is, than it becomes more enjoyable.
Still, his sense of humor is still a little too...rough for my tastes.
Identity protection? A hallucinogenic buzz word created by the Sony moneybags committee to try and flame shield their major FAIL?emeraldrafael said:I rather like that they're offering Identity Protection or are at least working towards it. Thats... really impressive.
Though I dont know good a Medievil Three would be good after all this time and that complete 180 the studio took in their game developments.
