Hell, Tali is the most attached I've got to a female character, and she is ALWAYS plated up, and GLaDOS, I would look past the wires and circuits and discuss her love of testing over a slice of cake... ahhhh....
Yeh! Yeh! Nobody gives GLaDOS lemons! But indeed, despite being nothing more than a computerised voice, I thought GLaDOS was quite the endearing sort in Portal 2. I also, thought Caroline cut quite the figure in her portrait, and I'm pretty sure she wasn't wandering the Aperture Science facility in some skimpy chain mail.

Man, Jim Sterling on the Escapist? Really? Keep his misogynist ass over at Destructoid, I really want absolutely nothing to do with him here.

Sorry Jim, maybe you gots the funny, or the interesting. But so far you haven't shown either. Not saying I could do a better job, but show biz ain't for everyone, kid.

This seems about as interesting as hearing my roommate complain about the gaming industry... A guy who only plays World of Warcraft. Only.

Wow, I can just feel the standards here dropping like a rock down Jupiters gravity well.

Is this really the direction the Escapist wants to go?

This man and his ilk are why we cant have nice things.

I was hoping that the last video was a one-off; that Sterling wasn't coming back.

The Escapist: do you really need to be giving this guy a voice here? He already has Destructoid, and it's not like he's contributing a whole heap to this site.

It's also worth remembering just how qualified Sterling to talk about sexism:

Those are some pretty damning quotes. Geez. :O

see, Im just curious WHY of all times, the escapist would add him NOW, when they're trying to get us to vote for them to win that " lifestyle" award thing. Because of Jim, I certainly dont feel like voting for them. I still am gonna go on this site, but i dont think at this point they deserve that award.

Awesome.

I've thought of this as well, but you generally get a fairly robust crowd who's upset about 'objectification in general' rather than the whole equality thing.

I'm just for the equality, I could care less about objectification as long as it's equal.

-edit-
Don't kid yourselves, we want the bikini mail. Putting full plate on both genders would be appealing for a bit as a novelty, but in the end we'd go back to Return of the Jedi and Prince of Persia [http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2004/12/3/].

Seriously?

I'm actually having some trouble with this one. Is it a silly parody or is he being serious? It's hard to tell, ambiguous in a bad way.

Regardless of which it is, though, the video was vulgar and intellectually bland.
Congratulations, Escapist. You now have a front page figureheaded by a picture of CGI tits, and if you click on it, it leads to an assortment of phallic imagery drawn in MS Paint.

I meant to say that Jim's statement that "Men are wired to objectify women" is incorrect. Fantasizing about a woman with a personality that you find attractive is the opposite of objectifying women.
I didn't make myself clear :(. Men create fantasy personas for women, so,
step 1: look at woman,
step 2: imagine being with woman,
step 3: what's she like? *insert ideal personality traits in dream-lover here*
Yes, that's the process for ascribing a personality to a stranger woman through a fantasy. The process for objectifying a woman through a fantasy is:
Step 1: Look at woman.
Step 2: Imagine being with woman.
Step 3: What's she like?
Step 4: Answer: She's just an advanced fleshlight.

When confronted with such a photograph a straight male would focus entirely on the female and would likely cover up the naked man with his hand or otherwise attempt to ignore the naked man, and I daresay our straight male friend would prefer that the naked man was absent from the picture.
An adult man secure in his sexuality is normally pretty comfortable seeing a male dong.
I'd give the naked man a look. Know your competition, etc.[/quote]
But would you be more horny because of the naked man's presence?

Solving the Sexism Situation

Sexism in videogames is the worst social situation civilization mankind has ever faced. Thank the sweet babe o' Nazareth that someone has a way to fix it!

Watch Video
Should of ended it with "We have to cater to PUSSIES just as much as DICKS" instead of Vaginas and penises. That way it'd be a double ententra

To be honest, I was almost getting interested for a moment, until he wheeled out the 'Have men dress in bikinis' crack, and all his credibility soaked away like a spider down the drain.

I like Jim, every since I found Dtoid.

He does need to lose those glasses, though.

Still think he should stick to issues like this, though.

That PLAYING IT WRONG one showcased a lot of bullshit in the game reviewing process.
If only the videos he'd done on The Escapist where like those two, then at least he'd be having a message that actually mattered a bit.

I still can't stand the guy, but I guess that's just a matter of taste, but if (and that's still a big "if" I think, judging from the 2 videos he's made so far and the reaction here on The Escapist) he should be allowed to keep posting stuff here on The Escapist, then at least make him choose a topic that we haven't seen discussed several times already... And with WAY better points than he's making ;)
