So a console that sold less in a year is more sucesful than one that sold more in a week?
Gotcha.
You see, the problem is, success isnt about what you are exited about, it isnt about what games you enjoy or anything like that. Success is about a single thing only - units sold. And as far as success goes - WiiU was terrible. Not OUYA levels of terrible, but terrible.
Now whether success is a good measure if the system is a while different question, but thats the one we will probably agree on anyway.

You know Jim, you shouldn't lick strange consoles, you dont know where they been or how much lead they have in the paint
By that logic you shouldnt lick anything ever.
Have you ever ate and typed? yes? then you already got hundred times more bacterial than he did while licking ouya. There are plenty plenty of things way worse bacteria wise. for exampe a kitchen sponge is one of the msot bacterial infested places in your house, along with your phone and tv remote. consoles are often not up in there because that is bad enviroment for bacterial to live. no grease to live on, temperature changes and dusty dry enviroment.
Lead is another discussion, but then you have am uch worse things to worry than lead if you want to worry about eating from painted items (like plastic bowls).

The wii U:
Allows online multiplayer (albeit implemented poorly with the lack of a good headset) FOR FREE.
Doesn't have mandatory game installs
Isn't putting graphics over aesthetics
Is backwards compatible
Has a spectrum of controllers for your handheld preference
Has a vast library of exclusive games and growing
Is trying to focus as a gaming machine and not a "centre of your living room magic miguffin"
and apparently is everything gamers hate.
I'm getting mine in January or when that dinosaur, robot, tank game comes out. That looks freaking awesome.
Each gamer has its own preferences. Judging by sale numbers those preferences are not in Nintendos favour.
The online multiplayer in Nintendo is, as you say, implemented very poorly.
I install all my games anyway and wouldn't have it any other way. Why would i want to keep putting the disc in when i can just select the game.
Asthetics are subjective. I for one dont see the whole histeria about grey shooters. there are plenty much more pleasant looking games to choose from, just because we got a few bleak games its not the end of the world. Graphics are not the most important thing, but they are important. Being subjective person i find WiiU graphics not asthetic at all.
Old consoles also allow you to play old games. And PC is more backwards conpactible than WiiU.
Can WiiU support keyboard and mouse? No? Okay....
Exclusives are
bad thing. Its not something to tout about. exclusives only cheat people of their games and should be gotten rid off. (besides, the only exclusives i were ever interested in anyway was all on PS3)
So is SONY.

When you think of it... Nintendo is the ONLY company that is thinking ahead in the field of console videogames.
Microsoft has it's thumb firmly wedged in the PC market pie and Sony makes more of off TVs/Stereos to care about the average gamer.
If liking a company based on it's (really good) line of products is wrong than I don't want to be right.
Haha, no.
First of all Nintendo, MS and SONY arent the only companies in the gaming market. Heck the way Nvidia is doing business they are pushing gaming a lot more than anything else, and they are much bigger player (if we take only gaming side of companies). Not to mention all handheld, mobile, tablet, pc hardware manufacturers.
Secondly, Micirosoft has been killing its PC gaming and well PC everything for a while now. its a dead horse that gets beaten into working sometimes. Sony is actually loosing A LOT of money in TVs/stereos for the last 2 years. In fact Gaming is the Only profitable part of SONY at the moment.
If i chose a company based on its line of products i would choose PC.
