Pretty straight forwards.
But for the sake of entertainment i'll add some context.
The entire World has collasped, government no longer applicable in the world, mainstream society has come to a halt. But in a very very odd considence every single member of the escaptist has survived and found themselves together. The world is empty and we are the only ones left.
What career are you taking up to help our new society and how will it help us collectively.

(and no, before you ask, personality, individual skills, etc etc do not count in this. merely your career skills and training.)

For me, i work in a kitchen, so i can cook clean fix some machinery and i have a decent knowledge of chemicals from it. Therefore would probably take the job of a chef if not something similar.

Edit: I'm sorry, some of you took this in the wrong way. however after realizing how much more awesome personality, individual skills and such can assist in rebuilding society (i intially just wanted to know where everybody worked) So let's just go with that. sorry first posters.

I am unemployed, so... Doctor? (I kid, I kid.)

I had a job at a gun range once and I know how to handle firearms, but I'm far from an expert. If the worst comes to the worst, I can shoot something.

Um, I don't think my ongoing college education as an aerospace engineer will be of much use...

Other skills that might actually apply:
minor electrical and motor repair
Cooking (nonprofessional, but I've produced meals that tasted notably better than ones I paid $15+ for.)
mid level Carpentry
semi-advanced first aid
General understanding of nature, focused on dealing with American animal species, inherently dangerous and otherwise.

I am unemployed, and I doubt a degree in earth sciences would be that helpful to rebuild society, unless we go searching for oil and coal.

I have years of security training so I could help keep control and offer aid to who ever is the quatermaster. Plus training as a prison guard so there that.

Computer Science and Philosophy

Clearly useful skills in the apocalypse, lol.

In any case, I'm a thinker, so while not necessarily immediately useful for survival, the new world will need intellectuals.

Well.. I can weld to a usable degree - stick or arc. It probably won't look too pretty, but I can make it work. ;D

Other than that.. I've been told I'm a good enough shot with guns. Although I'm not marksman - don't own any guns myself, so I don't go shooting very often.

I shall be the cook, and general chillaxing dude. Seriously, what's cooler than a dude in jeans and T-shirt armed with a spatula and frying some steaks?

I honestly thought we'd just be going with the Peter Griffin approach and simply drawing jobs out of a hat!

Actor by training, but most of my jobs have been IT related. I did study human biology though, and no that's not a euphemism for porn - though I did make one of those once when money was tight, so I have basic medical skills. I have a fair knowledge of politics, both from a historical context and a practical standpoint. And I have a reasonable understanding of military history, pertaining to tactics and technology.

So... ..erm, probably end up either as a medic or entertainer of some description.

Or just rig up a generator to a water wheel and charge people to use the power, assuming we don't have a centralised power system.

Or god forbid, go into Politics.

I am currently in a Games Development course in college.
I will bring video games to the people and it will be good....as long as the apocalypse takes place in 2 years after I've finished the course.

Work as a lifeguard as a Saturday job. Trained in Advanced First Aid, can use a defib, treat numerous injuries, give oxygen, and possibly an IV if I'm lucky. So, doctor's assistant/medic then?
