Musician for a major label until I realized I would probably be forced to change my entire sound, and generally be a sell-out. I still plan to be a musician, I just don't much care about being signed to anything more than an independent label.
Yeah, why sign at all? Major labels take some odd 90% of what your albums sell, if you're lucky. They also can decide not to release a finished album, so you have no way of paying off the advance they gave you. Even with small labels, there's little point in joining. More and more bands are going the pure indie route, and it works better.2012 Wont Happen said:Musician for a major label until I realized I would probably be forced to change my entire sound, and generally be a sell-out. Its easier starting out if you can get signed to an independent label. Eventually, me and my band want to start our own label.goldenjester said:Yeah, why sign at all? OT, I started in Computer Science, realized I hated it, switched to Music Technology, realized that the school I go to's program SUCKED and that I wasn't any good with music theory (despite getting A's on all composition projects, I couldn't explain stuff) and aural skills (the most impossible class ever). I had planned to get into advertising, so I'm switching to Marketing, possible English minor, while writing on the side, mostly for fun, but hopefully for profit.
I wanted to be a vet... and I am, almost. 1 year left, thank god we Brits can do it as an undergrad degree.Asturiel said:I want to be a vet, but then I found out it would require a Bachelor of Science before I could apply, and a lot of hard schooling to get there.
Yes I am still interested why do you ask?
Seriously? Fuck that would be nice.Vet2501 said:I wanted to be a vet... and I am, almost. 1 year left, thank god we Brits can do it as an undergrad degree.
Are you good with the maths and sciences? Are you willing to do hard schooling for 8+ years? Do you have the courage to put an animal mercifully towards its death?child of lileth said:Veterinarian. I always wanted to be one since I was little, but I don't think I can actually do it.
Ignoring the financial part of the schooling, yeah, I can do all that. But there's just other things involved that make me think I just can't.Asturiel said:Are you good with the maths and sciences? If you answered yes to those then yes you can, otherwise I don't know.
Well as important as that part is (like 80% of it) I'm curious as to why you think you can't.child of lileth said:Ignoring the financial part of the schooling, yeah, I can do all that. But there's just other things involved that make me think I just can't.
